چکیده

We present in this paper a new particle-based method for sampling and rendering several types of the nonphotorealistic feature contours on implicit surfaces: silhouette, shadow and suggestive contours. We introduce a curve adhesion behavior for dynamic particles that brings up the possibility to render any contour that is defined as an intersection of two smooth implicit surfaces. In the case of the smooth contours, we construct and maintain polylines with correct topology, by connecting the particles that adhere to these contours. We implement a new visibility algorithm for silhouettes, based on a planar map constructed with the projections of the zero radial curvature and silhouette contours onto the image plane. We present several images rendered in our framework, thus demonstrating that we introduce a powerful tool for the real-time viewdependent visualization of the feature contours on smooth implicit surfaces and more generally, of any implicitly defined contours. Preprint : Clip Art Rendering of Smooth Isosurfaces

Clip art is a simplified illustration form consisting of layered filled polygons or closed curves used to convey 3-D shape information in a 2-D vector graphics format. This paper focuses on the problem of direct conversion of smooth surfaces, ranging from the free-form shapes of art and design to the mathematical structures of geometry and topology, into a clip art form suitable for illustratio...

Generating Smooth High-Quality Isosurfaces for Interactive Modeling and Visualization of Complex Terrains

In modeling and rendering of complex procedural terrains the extraction of isosurfaces is an important part. In this paper we introduce an approach to generate high-quality isosurfaces from regular grids at interactive frame rates. The surface extraction is a variation of Dual Marching Cubes and designed as a set of well-balanced parallel computation kernels. In contrast to a straightforward pa...

Pressing: Smooth Isosurfaces with Flats from Binary Grids

We explore the automatic recovery of solids from their binary volumetric discretizations. In particular, we propose an approach, called Pressing, for smoothing isosurfaces extracted from binary volumes while recovering their large planar regions (flats). Pressing yields a surface that is guaranteed to contain the samples of the volume classified as interior and exclude those classified as exter...

Taxonomy of asexual microfungus Periconia on Phoenix in India

The anamorphic fungus genus Periconia is worldwide in distribution and causes foliar disease on plants mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. This study presents the description and illustration of P. palmivora discovered on leaves of Phoenix dactylifera (Palmae/Arecaceae) from Terai forest region of Uttar Pradesh, India. The taxonomic determination was based on morphological characteristi...
