Timeline analysis and wavelet multiscale analysis of the AKARI All-Sky Survey at 90 micron

چکیده
We present a careful analysis of the point source detection limit of the AKARI AllSky Survey in the WIDE-S 90μm band near the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP). Timeline Analysis is used to detect IRAS sources and then a conversion factor is derived to transform the peak timeline signal to the interpolated 90μm flux of a source. Combined with a robust noise measurement, the point source flux detection limit at S/N > 5 for a single detector row is 1.1± 0.1 Jy which corresponds to a point source detection limit of the survey of ∼0.4 Jy. Wavelet transform offers a multiscale representation of the Time Series Data (TSD). We calculate the continuous wavelet transform of the TSD and then search for significant wavelet coefficients considered as potential source detections. To discriminate real sources from spurious or moving objects, only sources with confirmation are selected. In our multiscale analysis, IRAS sources selected above 4σ can be identified as the only real sources at the Point Source Scales. We also investigate the correlation between the non-IRAS sources detected in Timeline Analysis and cirrus emission using wavelet transform and contour plots of wavelet power spectrum. It is shown that the non-IRAS sources are most likely to be caused by excessive noise over a large range of spatial scales rather than real extended structures such as cirrus clouds.

Timeline analysis and wavelet multiscale analysis of the AKARI All-Sky Survey at 90μm

متن کاملAkari Observations of Interstellar Polyciclic Aromatic
Introduction: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are small organic matters found also in the interstellar space [1]. They are subjects of interest as distant ancestors of organic matters in our Solar system, in view of the life cycle of solid matters in space. Data and analysis: AKARI, Japanese infrared astronomical satellite, surveyed all the sky in the 9, 18, 65, 90 and 160 micron bands....
متن کاملAKARI/FIS All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue Version 1.0 Release Note
The AKARI/FIS Bright Source Catalogue Version 1.0 provides the positions and fluxes of 427,071 point sources in the four far-infrared wavelengths centred at 65, 90, 140, and 160 μm. The sensitivity in the 90 μm band is about 0.55 Jy. This document describes the data format and definitions of contents, and the characteristics of the release catalogue. The outline of the data processing and calib...
متن کاملMid-infrared all-sky survey with AKARI
AKARI (formerly called ASTRO-F) is the first Japanese astronomical infrared satellite and it is now in a sun-synchronous polar orbit at the altitude of 700 km. One of the major programs of AKARI observations is an all-sky survey in the midto far-infrared spectral region with 6 photometric bands. AKARI has a 685mm telescope, which is cooled down to about 6K by superfluid liquid helium and mechan...
متن کاملA milestone to SPICA extragalactic surveys: The AKARI NEP survey
Large area surveys in the infrared wavelengths have revealed a significant evolution of the star formation activity of the universe in the past. The extragalactic survey we have conduced with AKARI towards the north ecliptic pole (NEP) is unique, in terms of a comprehensive wavelength coverage from 2 to 24 micron using all 9 photometric bands of the Infrared Camera (IRC). We demonstrate that th...
