چکیده

We present an adaptive algorithm for low Mach number reacting flows with complex chemistry. Our approach uses a form of the low Mach number equations that discretely conserves both mass and energy. The discretization methodology is based on a robust projection formulation that accommodates large density contrasts. The algorithm uses an operator-split treatment of stiff reaction terms and includes effects of differential diffusion. The basic computational approach is embedded in an adaptive projection framework that uses structured hierarchical grids with subcycling in time that preserves the discrete conservation properties of the underlying single-grid algorithm. We present numerical examples illustrating the performance of the method on both premixed and nonpremixed flames. PACS numbers: 47.40.Fw, 82.40.Py Submitted to: Combust. Numerical Solution of Reacting Laminar Flow Heat and Mass Transfer in Ducts of Arbitrary Cross-Sections for Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids

This study is concerned with the numerical analysis, formulation, programming and computation of steady, 3D conservation equations of reacting laminar flow heat and mass transfer in ducts of arbitrary cross-sections. The non-orthogonal boundary-fitted coordinate transformation method is applied to the Cartesian form of overall-continuity, momenta, energy and species-continuity equations, parabo...

Implementation of D3Q19 Lattice Boltzmann Method with a Curved Wall Boundary Condition for Simulation of Practical Flow Problems

In this paper, implementation of an extended form of a no-slip wall boundary condition is presented for the three-dimensional (3-D) lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for solving the incompressible fluid flows with complex geometries. The boundary condition is based on the off-lattice scheme with a polynomial interpolation which is used to reconstruct the curved or irregular wall boundary on the ne...

Numerical Simulation of Separation Bubble on Elliptic Cylinders Using Three-equation k-? Turbulence Model

Occurrence of laminar separation bubbles on solid walls of an elliptic cylinder has been simulated using a recently developed transitional model for boundary layer flows. Computational method is based on the solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and the eddy-viscosity concept. Transitional model tries to simulate streamwise fluctuations, induced by freestream turbulen...

Simulation of Combustion Field with Lattice Boltzmann Method

(Abstract • j Turbulent combustion is ubiquitously used in practical combustion devices. However, even chemically non-reacting turbulent flows are complex phenomena, and chemical reactions make the problem even more complicated. Due to the limitation of the computational costs, conventional numerical methods are impractical in carrying out direct 3D numerical simulations at high Reynolds number...

Three-Dimensional Detailed Simulation of Laminar Burners on Parallel Computers

Laminar flows involving chemical reactions play an important role in many practical applications. In this work a three-dimensional simulation dedicated to solving the Navier-Stokes equations in the low-Mach number limit is presented, using detailed chemistry and detailed transport. A complex three-dimensional configuration of a laminar methane/air burner is considered. Thanks to efficient numer...
