Hcn J=5-4 Emission in Apm08279+5255 at Z=3.91

چکیده
We detect HCN J=5-4 emission from the ultraluminous quasar APM08279+5255 at z=3.911 using the IRAM Plateau de Bure interfer-ometer. This object is strongly gravitationally lensed, yet still thought to be one of the most intrinsically luminous objects in the Universe. The new data imply a line luminosity L ′ HCN (J=5−4) = 4.0 ± 0.5 × 10 10 K km s −1 pc 2. The ∼ 440 km s −1 full width half maximum of the HCN J=5-4 line matches that of the previously observed high-J CO lines in this object and suggests that the emission from both species emerges from the same region: a warm, dense circumnuclear disk. Simple radiative transfer models suggest an enhanced abundance of HCN relative to CO in the nuclear region of APM08279+5255, perhaps due to increased ionization, or possibly the selective depletion of oxygen. The ratio of far-infrared luminosity to HCN luminosity is at the high end of the range found for nearby star forming galaxies, but comparable to that observed in the few high redshift objects detected in the HCN J=1-0 line. This is the first clear detection of high-J HCN emission redshifted into the 3-millimeter atmospheric window. Subject headings: – galaxies: active – galaxies: high-redshift – quasars: emission lines – quasars: individual (APM08279+5255) – galaxies: ISM 1 Based on observations carried out with the IRAM Plateau de Bure Interferometer. Atomic Carbon in APM 08279 + 5255
We present a detection of [CI] 3 P 1 − 3 P 0 emission in the lensed quasar APM 08279+5255 at z=3.91 using the IRAM Plateau de Bure interferometer. The [CI] line velocity and width are similar to the values of previously detected high-J CO and HCN lines in this source, suggesting that the emission from all of these species arises from the same region. The apparent luminosity of the [CI] line is L

We present CO(J=1→0) observations of the high–redshift quasi–stellar objects (QSOs) BR12020725 (z = 4.69), PSSJ2322+1944 (z = 4.12), and APM08279+5255 (z = 3.91) using the NRAO Green Bank Telescope (GBT) and the MPIfR Effelsberg 100m telescope. We detect, for the first time, the CO ground–level transition in BR1202-0725. For PSS J2322+1944 and APM08279+5255, our observations result in line flux...

We report the detection of the CO 4–3, 6–5, 9–8, 10–9, and 11–10 lines in the Broad Absorption Line quasar APM 08279+5255 at z = 3.9 using the IRAM 30 m telescope. We also present IRAM PdBI high spatial resolution observations of the CO 4–3 and 9–8 lines, and of the 1.4 mm dust radiation as well as an improved spectrum of the HCN(5–4) line. Unlike CO in other QSO host galaxies, the CO line SED ...
متن کاملResolved nuclear CO(1-0) emission in APM08279+5255: Gravitational lensing by a naked cusp?
The ultraluminous broad absorption line quasar APM08279+5255 is one of the most luminous systems known. Here, we present an analysis of its nuclear CO(1-0) emission. Its extended distribution suggests that the gravitational lens in this system is highly elliptical, probably a highly inclined disk. The quasar core, however, lies in the vicinity of naked cusp, indicating that APM08279+5255 is tru...
متن کاملImaging the Molecular Gas in a Z=3.9 Quasar Host Galaxy at 0.3 Resolution: a Central, Sub-kiloparsec Scale Star Formation Reservoir in Apm08279+5255
We have mapped the molecular gas content in the host galaxy of the strongly lensed high redshift quasar APM08279+5255 (z = 3.911) with the Very Large Array at 0.3 resolution. The CO(J=1→0) emission is clearly resolved in our maps. The CO(J=1→0) line luminosity derived from these maps is in good agreement with a previous single-dish measurement. In contrast to previous interferometerbased studie...
