Subretinal neovascularisation in ocular toxoplasmosis.

چکیده
Toxoplasmosis is a common ophthalmic disorder and is said to cause a considerable number of cases of posterior ocular inflammation. Different investigators have considered toxoplasmosis to be the cause of 16-70% of cases of posterior uveitis.l2 Subretinal neovascularisation is a clinical finding. It is seen in a variety of eye diseases, with the list of associated ocular disorders growing as fluorescein angiography has become more of a routine procedure for examining the posterior pole. In 1969 Friedmann and Knox3 described an uncommon form of toxoplasmosis associated with macular subretinal fluid or blood. Recently 3 cases of toxoplasmosis have been reported with associated subretinal neovascularisation.4 We wish to add to the relatively small number of these cases 2 well documented instances of ocular toxoplasmosis with subretinal neovascularisation.

Unusual ocular presentation of acute toxoplasmosis.
Four patients with toxoplasmosis are reported with unusual presenting ocular lesions. One patient had an active lesion that appeared to involve the optic nerve as well as focal toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis at the macula. A second patient had a pale optic nerve in association with the classical chorioretinal scars of toxoplasmosis. The third patient had toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis of the macu...

Introduction: Toxoplasma is a leading cause of posterior uveitis in immunocompetent patients manifesting as a focal posterior retinochoroiditis. It also causes systemic disease with potentially lethal complications. This obligate intracellular parasite has worldwide distribution with an estimated 1 billion people affected. 1 The typical Toxoplasma lesion consists of fluffy gray or white-yellow ...

INTRODUCTION Myopia has become a big public health problem in certain parts of the world. Sight-threatening complications like choroidal neovascularisation membranes occur in up to 10% of pathological myopia, and natural history studies show a trend towards progressive visual loss. There are long-term financial and quality-of-life implications in this group of patients, and treatment strategies...
متن کاملSubretinal Fluid in Eyes with Active Ocular Toxoplasmosis Observed Using Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography
PURPOSE To describe the clinical finding of subretinal fluid (SRF) in the posterior pole by spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in eyes with active ocular toxoplasmosis (OT). DESIGN Retrospective case series. PARTICIPANTS Thirty-nine eyes from 38 patients with active OT [corrected].. METHODS Eyes with active OT which underwent SD-OCT were reviewed. SRFs in the posterior ...

PURPOSE To investigate spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) findings and compare them with time domain (TD)-OCT imaging of macula and retinochoroiditis lesions of patients with toxoplasmosis. DESIGN Prospective cross-sectional study. METHODS Ten eyes of 10 patients with active toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis were included. Morphologic features from the macula and retinochoroi...
