چکیده

Adaptive Model Predictive Transmission Control Protocol (AMP-TCP) as a new TCP delay-based congestion control algorithm is introduced. Both aspects of design and implementation of the algorithm are described using simulations on the ns-2 network simulator. The design stage is composed of two steps. First, a recursive system identification approach is proposed to capture the network delay dynamics from TCP source view. Second, the proposed modeling is employed to develop an adaptive model predictive TCP congestion control strategy in the absence of any explicit congestion notification. The characteristics and performance of AMP-TCP are investigated using several network simulations. Finally a modified version of the AMP-TCP, called Vegas-Like AMP-TCP, is proposed and compared with the well known TCP Vegas algorithm in term of providing the desired number of buffered in-flight packets in the network. 2005 Elsevier B.V. Designing a Delay-based Adaptive Congestion Control Mechanism using Control Theory and System Identification for TCP/IP Networks

In the Internet, TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) has been used as an end-to-end congestion control mechanism. Of all several TCP implementations, TCP Reno is the most popular implementation. TCP Reno uses a loss-based approach since it estimates the severity of congestion by detecting packet losses in the network. On the contrary, another implementation called TCP Vegas uses a delay-based a...

A Design of Gain-scheduled Congestion Controllers using State Predictive Observers

In this paper, a design problem of congestion controllers is discussed for TCP/AQM(Transmission Control Protocol/Active Queue Management) networks. The proposed method consists of two control techniques. First one is based on a gain-scheduling technique considering nonlinearities of TCP/AQM networks. But the designed congestion controller is a state feedback controller and it is impossible to e...

On Hybrid TCP Congestion Control

This paper presents several considerations on the hybrid TCP congestion control, in which lossbased schemes like TCP-Reno and delay-based schemes like TCP-Vegas are combined in a smart way. We firstly introduce simple analytical models of loss-based TCP, delay-based TCP and their hybrid. With support of experimental results, effectiveness of the hybrid TCP is proved. Then, we try to develop a m...

Performance Analysis of TCP Congestion Control Algorithms

The demand for fast transfer of large volumes of data, and the deployment of the network infrastructures is ever increasing. However, the dominant transport protocol of today, TCP, does not meet this demand because it favors reliability over timeliness and fails to fully utilize the network capacity due to limitations of its conservative congestion control algorithm. The slow response of TCP in...
