Homography H Least-squares M b) a) c) Ball_1 Ball_2 Ball_3 Ball_4 b) H r g r g π 1 π 2 Fig. 1. Top left, panel (a), images of two planes are related by an homography. Right, panel (b), 4 images of a colored ball are shown. Ball 1 is the reference image where the illumination color is white and placed behind the camera. Ball 2 is the object illuminated with a blue light from above. Respectively, Ball 3 and Ball 4 are the least-squares mapping and the homography match from Ball 2 to Ball 1, Bottom right, panel (c), the chromaticities from Ball 2 matched to corresponding chromaticities in Ball 1.

Color Homography: theory and applications

Images of co-planar points in 3-dimensional space taken from different camera positions are a homography apart. Homographies are at the heart of geometric methods in computer vision and are used in geometric camera calibration, 3D reconstruction, stereo vision and image mosaicking among other tasks. In this paper we show the surprising result that homographies are the apposite tool for relating...

Recoding Color Transfer as A Color Homography

The recently discovered color homography theorem proves that colors across a change in photometric viewing condition are related by a homography [2]. In this paper, we propose a color-homography-based color transfer decomposition which encodes color transfer as a combination of chromaticity shift and shading adjustment. Our experiments show that the proposed color transfer decomposition provide...

GONG, FINLAYSON, FISHER: RECODING COLOR TRANSFER AS A COLOR HOMOGRAPHY1 Recoding Color Transfer as a Color Homography

Color transfer is an image editing process that adjusts the colors of a picture to match a target picture’s color theme. A natural color transfer not only matches the color styles but also prevents after-transfer artifacts due to image compression, noise, and gradient smoothness change. The recently discovered color homography theorem proves that colors across a change in photometric viewing co...

Color Homography Color Correction

Homographies – a mathematical formalism for relating image points across different camera viewpoints – are at the foundations of geometric methods in computer vision and are used in geometric camera calibration, image registration, and stereo vision and other tasks. In this paper, we show the surprising result that colors across a change in viewing condition (changing light color, shading and c...

Obstacle Detection Using Adaptive Color Segmentation and Color Stereo Homography

Obstacle detection is a key component of autonomous systems. In particular, when dealing with large robots in unstructured environments, robust obstacle detection is vital. In this paper, we describe an obstacle detection methodology which combines two complimentary methods: adaptive color segmentation, and stereo-based color homography. This algorithm is particularly suited for environments in...
