چکیده

Aims. Power-law cosmologies, in which the cosmological scale factor evolves as a power law in the age, a ∝ t with α >∼ 1, regardless of the matter content or cosmological epoch, is comfortably concordant with a host of cosmological observations. Methods. In this article, we use recent measurements of the X-ray gas mass fractions in clusters of galaxies to constrain the α parameter with curvature k = ±1, 0. Results. We find that the best fit happens for an open scenario with the power index α = 1.14 ± 0.05, though the flat and closed model can not be rule out at very high confidence level. Conclusions. Our results are in agreement with other recent analyses and show that the X-ray gas mass fraction measurements in clusters of galaxies provide a complementary test to the power law cosmology.

baryonic matter distribution in the large-scale structures is one of the main questions in cosmology. This distribution can provide valuable information regarding  the processes of galaxy formation and evolution. On the other hand, the missing baryon problem is still under debate. One of the most important cosmological structures for studying the rate and  the distribution of the baryons is gal...

Dynamical Evolution of Globular Clusters in Hierarchical Cosmology

We probe the evolution of globular clusters that could form in giant molecular clouds within high-redshift galaxies. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the large and dense enough gas clouds assemble naturally in current hierarchical models of galaxy formation. These clouds are enriched with heavy elements from earlier stars and could produce star clusters in a similar way to nearby molecula...

Testing cosmology with extreme galaxy clusters

Motivated by recent suggestions that a number of observed galaxy clusters have masses which are too high for their given redshift to occur naturally in a standard model cosmology, we use extreme value statistics to construct confidence regions in the mass–redshift plane for the most extreme objects expected in the universe. We show how such a diagram not only provides a way of potentially rulin...

Formation of Globular Clusters in Hierarchical Cosmology: ART and Science

We test the hypothesis that globular clusters form in supergiant molecular clouds within high-redshift galaxies. Numerical simulations demonstrate that such large, dense, and cold gas clouds assemble naturally in current hierarchical models of galaxy formation. These clouds are enriched with heavy elements from earlier stars and could produce star clusters in a similar way to nearby molecular c...

Formation of Globular Clusters in Hierarchical Cosmology

We study the formation of globular clusters in a Milky Way-size galaxy using a high-resolution cosmological simulation. The clusters in our model form in the strongly baryon-dominated cores of supergiant molecular clouds in the gaseous disks of high-redshift galaxies. The properties of clusters are estimated using a physically-motivated subgrid model of the isothermal cloud collapse. The first ...
