Batch scheduling of deteriorating reworkables
نویسندگان
چکیده
The problem of scheduling the production of new and recoverable defective items of the same product manufactured on the same facility is studied. Items are processed in batches. Each batch comprises two sub-batches processed consecutively. In the first subbatch, all the items are newly manufactured. Some of them are of the required good quality and some are defective. The defective items are remanufactured in the second sub-batch. They deteriorate while waiting for rework. This results in increased time and cost for their remanufacturing. All the items in the same sub-batch complete at the same time, which is the completion time of the last item in the sub-batch. Each remanufactured defective item is of the required good quality. It is assumed that the percentage of defective items in each batch is the same. A setup time is required to start batch processing and to switch from manufacturing to remanufacturing. The demands for good quality items over time are given. The objective is to find batch sizes such that the total setup and inventory holding cost is minimized and all the demands are satisfied. Dynamic programming algorithms are presented for the general problem and some important special cases.

Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Precedence Constraints and Deteriorating Jobs
This paper considers the single machine scheduling problem with precedence constraints and deteriorating jobs. A mathematical model based on binary integer programming (BIP) is developed. By these precedence constraints, jobs can not start before completion of its all predecessors. The represented model is in two steps, in step one the earliest starting time of each job is computed, then the re...
متن کاملDesign of a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling to Minimize Job Tardiness and Machine Deteriorating Costs with Deteriorating Jobs in a Batched Delivery System
This paper studies the parallel machine scheduling problem subject to machine and job deterioration in a batched delivery system. By the machine deterioration effect, we mean that each machine deteriorates over time, at a different rate. Moreover, job processing times are increasing functions of their starting times and follow a simple linear deterioration. The objective functions are minimizin...

متن کاملA Hybrid Approach for Fuzzy Just-In-Time Flow Shop Scheduling with Limited Buffers and Deteriorating Jobs
This paper investigates the problem of just-in-time permutation flow shop scheduling with limited buffers and linear job deterioration in an uncertain environment. The fuzzy set theory is applied to describe this situation. A novel mixed-integer nonlinear program is presented to minimize the weighted sum of fuzzy earliness and tardiness penalties. Due to the computational complexities, the prop...
متن کاملGENETIC AND TABU SEARCH ALGORITHMS FOR THE SINGLE MACHINE SCHEDULING PROBLEM WITH SEQUENCE-DEPENDENT SET-UP TIMES AND DETERIORATING JOBS
This paper introduces the effects of job deterioration and sequence dependent set- up time in a single machine scheduling problem. The considered optimization criterion is the minimization of the makespan (Cmax). For this purpose, after formulating the mathematical model, genetic and tabu search algorithms were developed for the problem. Since population diversity is a very important issue in ...
