Comparison of Gamma-ray Non-Destructive Assay Measurement Techniques

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Several techniques based on gamma-ray measurements are commonly available for both Safeguards measurements and NonDestructive Assay (NDA) of radionuclides including Special Nuclear Material, including plutonium and uranium. The techniques discussed here are referred to as : "ISO-CART", "QED", "SGS" and "TGS"; some include shielded chambers for the lowest activity measurements. This Technical Note compares the measurement characteristics and the range of samples for these techniques. Not all aspects of the technology are covered, but this is a guide to NDA users and those with a general knowledge of gamma-ray measurement technology in the selection of a system for their use.

Evaluating the Reliability of an Accurate Performance in Tray Columns Using Gamma Ray Scanning Technique

The nondestructive techniques are applied to identify important data from the internal process of distillation towers, process towers, pressure vessels and etc. In recent, the gamma-ray scanning techniques as diagnostic tools for scanning of tray columns, packed columns, storage tanks, level measurement and density measurement of containing materials has been used widely. This paper has tried t...

The Role of Mathematical Methods in Efficiency Calibration and Uncertainty Estimation in Gamma Based Non-Destructive Assay - 12311

Mathematical methods are being increasingly employed in the efficiency calibration of gamma based systems for non-destructive assay (NDA) of radioactive waste and for the estimation of the Total Measurement Uncertainty (TMU). Recently, ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) released a standard guide for use of modeling passive gamma measurements. This is a testimony to the common use...

Rapid communication Partial and total thermal neutron capture cross sections for non-destructive assay and transmutation monitoring

Accurate partial gamma-ray production cross sections were determined for the prompt and radioactive product decay gamma rays following cold neutron capture in Tc. They can be used for non-destructive assay of technetium by prompt gamma activation analysis (PGAA) and neutron activation analysis (NAA), offering orders of magnitude higher analytical sensitivities than passive gamma-ray counting. A...
