Biological remediation of dyes in textile effluent: a review on current treatment technologies
نویسنده
چکیده
Wastewater from the textile industry can contain a variety of polluting subst-ances including dyes. Increasingly, environmental legislation is being imposed to control the release of dyes, in particular azo-based compounds, into the enviro -nment. The ability of microorganisms to decolourise and metabolise dyes has long been known, and the use of bioremediation based technologies for treating textile wastewater has attracted interest. Within this review, we investigate the mechan-isms by which diverse categories of microorganisms, such as fungi, bacterial consortia and yeast, bring about the degradation of dyestuffs.

Decolorization, Degradation, And Toxicological Analysis Of Textile Dye Effluent By Using Novel Techniques – Review
In textile industry during the dyeing process roughly 10% of synthetic dyes were used and let into the wastewater. Among all dyestuff Azo dyes occupies in majority, because they are extensively used in the textile, paper, food, leather, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. They represent chief polluting components ranging from inorganic compounds to polymers and organic elements. However pr...

Enormous volumes of effluent are generated at different stages of textile manufacturing, as a result of the use of copious amounts of chemicals and dyes. Several tons of textiles required to meet up with societal demands are produced daily in this industry. Effluent derived from the textile and dyestuff activities can provoke serious environmental impact in the neighboring receptor water bodies...
متن کاملElecterocoagulation of Blue and Mixed Azo Dyes and Application in Treating Simulated Textile Effluent
This study investigated the efficiency of electerocoagulation (EC) in removing color from synthetic and simulated textile wastewater. The study on decolorization of mixed dyes is a step toward an effective treatment of textile wastewater. Two representative reactive dye molecules were selected for the synthetic dye wastewater, a blue dye alone and mixed dye (black, blue, red, 1:1:1v/v). The EC ...

Industrial development worldwide has led to an increase in the amount of wastewater production leading to a considerable decrease in levels and quality of the natural water in the ecosystem. Textile dyes are an important class of pollutants in natural water ecosystem. Textile dyes are molecules designed to impart a permanent colour to textile fabrics. Effluent from textile dyeing units contain ...
متن کاملExperimental Studies on Decolourization of Azo Dye in Textile Effluent by using Bio Remediation Technique
Studies were carried out on the decolorization of azo dyes by Bacillus species from effluent of textile industries. About 10 bacterial strains were isolated from the effluent of textile industries, Bacillus sp. showed remarkable ability in decolorizing the widely utilized azo dyes. Phenotypic characterization and phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence comparisons indicate that these s...
