چکیده

Background Aspirin (ASA) hypersensitivity has a complex clinical presentation with three major phenotypes: aspirinexacerbated respiratory disease (AERD; asthma and/or nasal polyps), chronic urticaria and aspirin-induced anaphylaxis. In patients with AERD asthma is often severe and difficult to control. Moreover, NSAID ingestion may provoke life-threatening attack. Thus, diagnosing of ASA hypersensitivity is an important issue. In everyday practice ASA hypersensitivity is confirmed by oral (OPT), nasal (NPT) or bronchial provocation tests. However their protocols vary in terms of maximum cumulative dose. Besides, phenotype of hypersensitivity is not taken into consideration when choosing the protocol.

Salicylate Food Intolerance and Aspirin Hypersensitivity in Nasal Polyposis

Background: A clear association between allergy and nasal polyposis (NP) is not determined and the role of food intolerance in patients with NP is not investigated by oral food challenge (OFC). Objective: To investigate the relation of salicylate food intolerance and atopy in patients with NP according to recurrence and aspirin sensitivity. Methods: A cross sectional multicenter study was d...

The values of nasal provocation test and basophil activation test in the different patterns of ASA/NSAID hypersensitivity.

BACKGROUND The oral provocation test (OPT) is the current gold standard to diagnose aspirin hypersensitivity syndrome although it is time-consuming and contains some systemic risks. Other reliable methods with lower side effects and shorter test duration are being investigated. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the nasal provocation test (NPT) and the basophi...

Different Phenotypes of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug Hypersensitivity during Childhood

Background: Although non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug hypersensitivity (NSAID-H) has been widely studied in adults, there is still a lack of data regarding the features and phenotypes of NSAID-H in children. Our aim was to define risk factors and different phenotypes according to clinical patterns. Methods: Patients with a history of reaction to any NSAIDs referred between January 2012 and ...

Cross-reactivity to Acetaminophen and Celecoxib According to the Type of Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug Hypersensitivity

PURPOSE Identification of tolerable alternative analgesics is crucial for management in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-sensitive patients. We investigated cross-reactivity of acetaminophen and celecoxib according to the type of aspirin/NSAID hypersensitivity and aimed to determine the risk factors for cross-intolerance. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of p...

EAACI/GA2LEN guideline: aspirin provocation tests for diagnosis of aspirin hypersensitivity.

Aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most common causes of adverse drug reactions. Majority of them are of the hypersensitivity type. The two frequent clinical presentations of aspirin hypersensitivity are: aspirin-induced bronchial asthma/rhinosinusitis (AIA/R) and aspirin-induced urticaria/angioedema (AIU). The decisive diagnosis is based on provocatio...
