Fms Structural Control and the Neighborhood Policy: Part 1 Correctness and Scalability
نویسنده
چکیده
Structural Control Policies (SCP's) are real-time FMS operating policies that guarantee deadlock free operation. SCP's must be correct and scalable. A correct SCP guarantees deadlock free operation while a scalable (polynomial) SCP remains computationally tractable as FMS size increases. The NP-completeness of state safety (is there a sequence of state transitions leading to the empty state?) implies that a correct and scalable SCP will reject some safe states. SCP efficiency is the ratio of policy admissible space to FMS safe state space. This paper, Part 1 of a two part series, discusses FMS structural control and presents a correct and scalable SCP referred to as the Neighborhood Policy. SCP efficiency issues are discussed in Part 2.

Deadlock-free operation of flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) is an important goal of manufacturing systems control research. In this work, we develop the criteria that real-time FMS deadlock-handling strategies must satisfy. These criteria are based on a digraph representation of the FMS state space. Control policies for deadlock-free operation are characterized as partitioning cuts on this...
متن کاملAn Automaton Based Framework for Analysis and Control of Flexible Manufacturing Systems
Development and maintenance of control software has emerged as one of the most difficult problems associated with building Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS). FMS controllers , potentially the most flexible FMS components, are characterized by their inflexibility. To support configuration flexibility of FMS controllers, this work proposes a modular hierarchical control structure which combine...

S3PR, Systems of Simple Sequential Processes with Resources, is a class of Petri Nets to describe concurrent systems with analyses to include model checking capabilities. The structural object of siphons is extensively used to characterize and analyze deadlock situations in flexible manufacturing system (FMS) that are modeled on Petri Nets (PN). The purpose of this work is to structure a model ...

Extended Abstract Introduction: Today cities are the main place of human life in the world. In addition to creating opportunities, they have confronted modern human beings with numerous threats. In many metropolises, quantitative growth has surpassed the quality of people’s lives. This has made an increasing number of social problems in general, and resulted in the emergence of crimes in parti...
