چکیده
HMD, demonstrating that ventilator strategy can contribute to the progression of HMD. The protective ventilatory strategy used by Meredith et al16 also included an attempt to maximally recruit the lung by using a high mean airway pressure. Although this approach improved gas exchange, the animals developed clinical signs of cardiac compromise. The problems with cardiac output impairment were avoided if, after the lung was recruited, the mean airway pressure was gradually decreased. As a guide, Kinsella et al17 used the chest radiograph and oxygenation (PaO2/partial pressure of oxygen in the alveoli [PAO2]) to

P143: The Neuroprotective Effect of Chloroquine in Animal Model of Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in young adults and children, and is a leading public health problem worldwide. In TBI, neurological impairment is caused by immediate brain tissue disruption (primary injury) and post‑injury cellular and molecular events (secondary injury) that exacerbate the primary neurological insult. However, the destructi...
متن کاملPostnatal corticosteroids for the prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains a common complication of preterm birth with long term substantial consequences. The administration of postnatal corticosteroids in an attempt to attenuate the chronic lung injury is still a matter of ongoing debate after more than 30 years of research. Systematic reviews of the available randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that administration ...
متن کاملCurrent Pharmacologic Approaches for Prevention and Treatment of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a major complication of preterm birth and has serious adverse long-term health consequences. The etiology of BPD is complex, multifactorial, and incompletely understood. Contributing factors include ventilator-induced lung injury, exposure to toxic oxygen levels, and infection. Several preventive and therapeutic strategies have been developed with variable su...
متن کاملThe Effects of Lavender Scent on Pain of Blood Sampling in Term Neonates
Introduction After birth, many infants were in hospital undergo repeated invasive procedures and because there is increasing evidence of short-term and long-term adverse neurodevelopment consequences, pain management in neonates is very important. Methods and Materials This was a quasi experimental study of clinical trial type that carried out on 80 term neonate that were allocated to two int...
متن کاملExpression Level and Subcellular Localization of Heme Oxygenase-1 Modulates Its Cytoprotective Properties in Response to Lung Injury: A Mouse Model
Premature infants exposed to hyperoxia suffer acute and long-term pulmonary consequences. Nevertheless, neonates survive hyperoxia better than adults. The factors contributing to neonatal hyperoxic tolerance are not fully elucidated. In contrast to adults, heme oxygenase (HO)-1, an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-anchored protein, is abundant in the neonatal lung but is not inducible in response to ...
