چکیده

Background Arrhythmia recurrence following acutely successful catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with recovery of conduction across previously complete circumferential or left atrial (LA) linear lesions. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be able to provide a non-invasive means to identify gaps in ablation lesions. This study assessed this prospectively in patients undergoing repeat LA catheter ablation.

Identification and acute targeting of gaps in atrial ablation lesion sets using a real-time magnetic resonance imaging system.

BACKGROUND Radiofrequency ablation is routinely used to treat cardiac arrhythmias, but gaps remain in ablation lesion sets because there is no direct visualization of ablation-related changes. In this study, we acutely identify and target gaps using a real-time magnetic resonance imaging (RT-MRI) system, leading to a complete and transmural ablation in the atrium. METHODS AND RESULTS A swine ...

Correlation between functional electrical gaps identified by ultrahigh-density mapping and by late gadolinium enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance in repeat atrial fibrillation procedure

Introduction Late gadolinium enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR) images can reveal previous atrial scarring due to radiofrequency (RF) lesions from atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. Discrepancies between the electrical gap identification in the LGE-CMR and in the electroanatomic voltage map obtained using a circular catheter inside pulmonary veins (PVs) have been observed. New map...

Acute injury immediately post atrial fibrillation ablation defined by MRI

Introduction Catheter ablation is effective in symptomatic, drug refractory atrial fibrillation and can result in cure but success rates vary significantly with recurrences ranging from 4086%. In the months following ablation, LA wall scarring on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is useful for determining the location and extent of injury and has been used to guide follow up ablation to 'close ...

Characterization of Gadolinium Contrast Enhancement of Radiofrequency Ablation Lesions in Predicting Edema and Chronic Lesion Size.

BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to acutely visualize radiofrequency ablation lesions, but its accuracy in predicting chronic lesion size is unknown. The main goal of this study was to characterize different areas of enhancement in late gadolinium enhancement MRI done immediately after ablation to predict acute edema and chronic lesion size. METHODS AND RESULTS In a c...

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
