چکیده
• Prior research has suggested approximately 30% of adults report difficulty falling asleep, difficulty maintaining sleep or having poor restorative sleep. [1] • Several studies have suggested that patients who experience insomnia and symptoms of insomnia report a number of significant impairments. [2-3] • There are a number of available treatments for insomnia which in clinical studies have demonstrated significant improvements in sleep latency, sleep time, sleep quality, daytime ability to function and physical well-being. [4-6] • However, these medications are associated with a variety of unwanted effects including both cognitive and psychomotor adverse events. [7-8] It remains unclear the extent to which the health outcomes of patients are restored (relative to those without insomnia) upon being treated for insomnia. Figure 3.
