Collaborative Friendship Networks in Online Healthcare Communities: An Exponential Random Graph Model Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Health 2.0 provides patients an unprecedented way to connect with each other online. However, less attention has been paid to how patient collaborative friendships form in online healthcare communities. This study examines the relationship between collaborative friendship formation and patients’ characteristics. Results from Exponential Random Graph Model (ERGM) analysis indicate that gender homophily doesn’t appear in CFNs, while health homophily such as treatments homophily and health-status homophily increases the likelihood of collaborative friendship formation. This study provides insights for improving website design to help foster close relationship among patients and deepen levels of engagement.

The Establishment of Friendhsip Ties in the Online Health Forum based on exponential Random Graph Model
The increasingly booming online social networks promote the development of online health forum. People tend to solve kinds of health issues through the Internet. However, it is still unclear what the main characteristics of friendship networks are and how the users’ attribution affect the friendship ties establishment in the online health forum. This study uses the Exponential Random Graph Mode...
متن کاملDetecting Overlapping Communities in Social Networks using Deep Learning
In network analysis, a community is typically considered of as a group of nodes with a great density of edges among themselves and a low density of edges relative to other network parts. Detecting a community structure is important in any network analysis task, especially for revealing patterns between specified nodes. There is a variety of approaches presented in the literature for overlapping...
متن کاملGoodness of Fit of Social Network Models1
We present a systematic examination of real network datasets using maximum likelihood estimation for exponential random graph models as well as new procedures to evaluate how well the models fit the observed graphs. These procedures compare structural statistics of the observed graph with the corresponding statistics on graphs simulated from the fitted model. We apply this approach to the study...

متن کاملThreshold Phenomena in the Evolution of Communities in Social Networks
We provide a theoretical model to explain the evolution of communities in social networks where new friends are formed by looking at friends of friends. Specifically, a new friendship link is formed based on the number of common friends between the two nodes. Additionally, we also allow a fraction of the new links to be random. Furthermore, we allow deletion of links to model degradation of old...
