چکیده

Homogeneous poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)–silica gel polymer hybrids were prepared by in-situ hydrolysis of poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) in a sol– gel reaction mixture with tetramethoxysilane (TMOS). The degree of hydrolysis was evaluated by FTIR and C CP/MAS NMR; it increased with an increase in the acid catalyst and reached 85% with 1.6 ml of 0.1 M HCl. The homogeneity of the polymer hybrids obtained was maintained when the reaction was performed at 60 °C. However, the polymer hybrid became turbid with an increase of the amount of catalyst present when the reaction was conducted at room temperature. The homogeneity of the polymer hybrids obtained was evaluated by nitrogen sorption porosimetry of a porous silica that was obtained by charring the PVA hybrid. The results confirmed the molecular-level dispersion of the PVA in the hybrid. # 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Immobilization of Glucose Oxidase/ferrocene Carboxylic Acid in Composite Silica Sol-gel/cross-linked Poly (vinyl Alcohol)/nafion Membrane

A method of tethering a mediator to an enzymatic membrane was studied to construct a non-leaking mediated glucose biosensor. Ferrocene carboxylic acid and glucose oxidase were immobilized in a sol gel derived silica (SGS) matrix containing cross-linked poly (vinyl alcohol) (CLPVA) and Nafion. CLPVA was applied as a solid support due to the ability to form very homogenous films with high quality...

Magnetic investigation of microwave synthesized and thermal stable poly vinyl alcohol-cobalt ferrite nanocomposites

We synthesized CoFe2O4 nanoparticles using heating in various times by simple microwave method at power about 600W. Water, ethylene glycol and their combination were used as solvent. X-ray diffraction pattern(XRD) analysis was performed for evaluation of structural characterization of samples. We also used scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the effects of various parameters of heati...

A Fast Method for Synthesis Magnesium Hydroxide Nanoparticles, Thermal Stable and Flame Retardant Poly vinyl alcohol Nanocomposite

Magnesium hydroxide nanostructures as an effective flame retardant were synthesized by a facile and rapid microwave reaction. The effect of different surfactants such as cationic, anionic and polymeric on the morphology of magnesium hydroxide nanostructures was investigated. Nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform in...

Synthesis of pH Sensitive Hydrogels Based on Poly Vinyl Alcohol and Poly Acrylic Acid

In this research, hydrogels based on poly vinyl alcohol and poly acrylic acid blend were prepared which were cross-linked by applied thermal conditions. Afterward, effects of time and heating on water uptake were investigated. The highest water uptake value exhibited by the sample that was heated for 20 min. at 110 ºC was about 2129% after 4 days at equilibrium state. Hydrogels exhibited p...

Viscometric Studies in Dilute Solution Mixtures of Chitosan and Microcrystalline Chitosan with Poly(vinyl alcohol)

The viscosity behavior of aqueous mixtures formed by a polyelectrolyte (A) and a neutral polymer (B), such as chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) (Ch/PVA) and microcrystalline chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) (MCCh/PVA), have been investigated at 25 °C. The intrinsic viscosity and the viscosity interaction parameter of each polymer in 0.1 mol·dm-3 CH3COOH/0.2 mol·dm-3 NaCl solution as well as the ternary ...
