چکیده

We have examined tumor tissue DNA obtained from 32 cases of Hodgkin's disease of the following subtypes: lymphocyte predominance, six; nodular sclerosing, eight; mixed cellularity, 14; lymphocyte depleted, 4; using immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor ¡iand y gene probes. Immunoglobulin heavy chain rearrangements were detected in five pa tients; in three of them only a minor clonal cell population was visible. T-cell receptor gene rearrangement was not observed in any patient examined. Three patients exhibiting minor clonal immunoglobulin re arrangements showed polyclonal T-cells in the same sample. There was no correlation between the presence and intensity of the rearranged bands and the number of Reed-Stemberg cells. Our data do not confirm recent reports of a frequent occurrence of immunoglobulin or T-cell receptor gene rearrangements in Hodgkin's disease and suggest no possible rela tion between Reed-Sternberg cells and Bor T-lymphocytes, respectively.

Diversity of T-cell receptor Gene Rearrangements in South Indian Patients with Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Precursor B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (precursor B-ALL) oc-curs due to the uncontrolled proliferation of B-lymphoid precursors arrested at a par-ticular stage of B-cell development. Precursor-B-ALL is classified mainly into pro-B-ALL, common-ALL and pre-B-ALL. The Common Acute Lymphoblastic Antigen CD10 is the marker for common-ALL. Objective: This study was aimed to examine the ...

Rearranged antigen receptor genes in Hodgkin's disease.

Despite intensive efforts using a wide variety of approaches, the cellular lineage and clonality of the abnormal cells of Hodgkin's disease have remained an enigma. In the present study, cell separation techniques that enriched for Reed-Sternberg cells and their variants were used to generate sufficient percentages of abnormal cells to allow detection of rearrangements in these cell fractions. ...

Rare Occurrence of Classical Hodgkin's Disease as a T Cell Lymphoma

Recent work identified Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (H/RS) cells in classical Hodgkin's disease (cHD) as clonal progeny of mature B cells. Therefore, it is generally assumed that cHD homogenously represents a B cell lymphoma. In a subset of cHD, however, H/RS cells expressing T cell-associated proteins may be candidates for alternative lineage derivation. Single H/RS cells with cytotoxic T cell p...

Employing PCR Technique in Assessment of Monoclonality in Large B-cell Non-Hodgkin\'s Lymphoma

Introduction: Most B-cell malignancies are diagnosed based on morphologic and immunohistochemical criteria. Some cases, however, still present a challenge for the pathologist to discriminate between reactive hyperplasia and neoplastic disorders. Molecular techniques can be used as a helpful diagnostic tool in these cases. In this study, we assessed the value of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) t...
