چکیده

In the context of scheduling and timetabling, we study a challenging combinatorial problem which is very interesting for both practical and theoretical points of view. The motivation behind it is to cope with scheduled activities which might be subject to unavoidable disruptions, such as delays, occurring during the operational phase. The idea is to preventively plan some extra time for the scheduled activities in order to be “prepared” if a delay occurs, and absorb it without the necessity of re-scheduling the activities from scratch. This realizes the concept of designing so called robust timetables. During the planning phase, one has to consider recovery features that might be applied at runtime if disruptions occur. Such recovery capabilities are given as input along with the possible disruptions that must be considered. As in standard delay management problems, the main objective still remains the minimization of the overall needed time. We show that finding an optimal solution for this problem is NP-hard even though the topology of the event activity network, which models dependencies among activities, is restricted to trees. However, we manage to design a pseudo-polynomial

Co3O4 nanoparticles as a robust and recoverable catalyst for one-pot synthesis of polyhydroquinolines and tetrahydrobenzopyrans

This study introduces a green and efficient method for preparation of biologically-active substituted 4H-pyrans using the one-pot three-component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, dimedone and malononitrile in the presence of cobalt oxide nanoparticles. Co3O4 nanoparticles were used as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of polyhydroquinoline derivatives by the reaction ...

Trinets encode tree-child and level-2 phylogenetic networks.

Phylogenetic networks generalize evolutionary trees, and are commonly used to represent evolutionary histories of species that undergo reticulate evolutionary processes such as hybridization, recombination and lateral gene transfer. Recently, there has been great interest in trying to develop methods to construct rooted phylogenetic networks from triplets, that is rooted trees on three species....

The robust recoverable spanning tree problem with interval costs is polynomially solvable

In this paper the robust recoverable spanning tree problem with interval edge costs is considered. The complexity of this problem has remained open to date. It is shown that the problem is polynomially solvable, by using an iterative relaxation method. A generalization of this idea to the robust recoverable matroid basis problem is also presented. Polynomial algorithms for both robust recoverab...

Recoverable robust spanning tree problem under interval uncertainty representations

This paper deals with the recoverable robust spanning tree problem under interval uncertainty representations. A strongly polynomial time, combinatorial algorithm for the recoverable spanning tree problem is first constructed. This problem generalizes the incremental spanning tree problem, previously discussed in literature. The algorithm built is then applied to solve the recoverable robust sp...

Fe3O4-chitosan nanoparticles as a robust magnetic catalyst for efficient synthesis of 5-substituted hydantoins using zinc cyanide

In this paper, Fe3O4-chitosan nanoparticles were prepared by the immobilization of chitosan on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Then, the 5-substituted hydantoins were synthesized from the condensation of aldehyde derivatives, ammonium carbonate and zinc cyanide as a well-known cyanating agent by the magnetic Fe3O4-chitosan nanoparticles under neat conditions. Fe3O4-Chitosan nanocatalyst as ...
