Preparation of Chlorendic Acid Based Polyester Resins

چکیده
Four polyesters were prepared by stepwise condensation of isopbthalic acid, cblorendic acid and maleic anhydride with propylene glycol using p-toluenesulpbonic acid as catalyst and xylene as entrainer. The quantities of maleic anbydride and propylene glycol used were 1 and 2.2 moles respectively and tbe molar ratios of cblorendic acid to isopbtbalic acid were 0.2: 0.8. 0.4: 0.6, 0.6: 0.4 and 0.8:0.2 for tbe four polyesters prepared. The polyesters obtained bad better colour and relatively more uniform distribution of cblorendic acid over tbe polymer cbain compared to the polyester made in one step. They were crosslinked using 30%

Preparation of Water-Based Alkyd/Acrylic Hybrid Resins
Alkyd resins are amongst the most important and widely used resins in coating sectors. In this communication we report on preparation of alkyd resins emulsified by grafted acrylic resins on their fatty acid moieties. Both high-shear mechanical homogenizer and ultra-sonic sonicator were used step-wise to disperse the alkyd resin and acrylic based monomers in aqueous media. The resins are of nano...
متن کاملAdsorption of chlorendic acid onto hydrophilic fumed titanium dioxide (P25)
The adsorption behavior of chlorendic acid (1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7-hexachlorobicyclo-(2, 2, 1) -hept-5-ene-2, 3dicarboxylic acid) onto hydrophilic fumed TiO2 (P-25, Degussa) in aqueous suspension was investigated. Results indicate that chlorendic acid adsorbed strongly in short times (2-5 mins) onto TiO2. Adsorption data is consistent with LangmuirHinshelwood isotherm model for monolayer adsorption a...
متن کاملFatty Acid-Based Monomers as Styrene Replacements for Liquid Molding Resins
One method of reducing styrene emissions from vinyl ester (VE) and unsaturated polyester resins (UPE) is to replace some or all of the styrene with fatty acid-based monomers. Methacrylated fatty acid (MFA) monomers are ideal candidates because they are inexpensive, have low volatilities, and free-radically polymerize with vinyl ester. The viscosity of VE resins using these fatty acid monomers r...
متن کاملZ-Protected Glutamic Acid-Based Biodegradable Thermoplastic and Thermosetting Polyesters: Synthesis and Characterization
Biodegradable polymers were formed from N-benzyloxycarbonyl-L-glutamic acid with the comonomers ethylene glycol, diglycidyl ether of 1,4-butanediol, and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. The three polymers were a linear and a rosslinked heterochain polyester and a crosslinked polyester that contained aromatic units within its network chains. The thermoplastic resin and the soluble fractions for ...
متن کاملBiodegradation of Thermoplastic and hermosetting Polyesters from Z-Protected Glutamic Acid
In a previous article,1 the development and molecular characterization of three polyesters from Ncarbobenzyloxy-L-glutamic acid (ZGluOH) were reported. The polymers were a linear, heterochain polyester (ZGluOH and ethylene glycol), a crosslinked heterochain polyester (ZGluOH and diglycidyl ether of 1,4-butanediol), and a crosslinked, heterochain aromatic polyester (ZGluOH and diglycidyl ether o...
