چکیده
Although the method utilizing the maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) 18F-FDG Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to assess the outcome of lung stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has been widely accepted in practice, its reliability has frequently been challenged i . The purpose of this study is to explore and test a novel method using a self background-corrected SUVmax (cSUVmax) in detecting local recurrence after lung SBRT.

Can an alternative backround-corrected [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) standard uptake value (SUV) be used for monitoring tumor local control following lung cancer stereotactic body radiosurgery?
Purpose: Although [18F] FDG-positron emission tomography (PET) provides vital information in diagnosing lung malignancies, the inherent uncertainties of standard uptake value (SUV) compromises its confidence. People have attempted to reduce this uncertainty by comparing the normal tissues, such as liver and spleen. However, those common reference structures may be inappropriate in some cases wh...

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the average iodine density (AID) detected by dual-energy computed tomography (DE-CT) and the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) yielded by [18F] fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). Seventy-four patients with medicall...
متن کاملImaging characteristics of local recurrences after stereotactic body radiation therapy for stage I non-small cell lung cancer: Evaluation of mass-like fibrosis
BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) in patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in terms of radiation-induced changes and computed tomography (CT) features of local recurrence by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography ((18)F-FDG-PET). METHODS From January 2006 to December 2012, 81 patients with NSCLC received SBRT. Fo...

Background: the aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of 18Fluorine-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) parameters in both overall survival and progression-free survival in Stage I-III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, 267 patients who were diagnosed as Stage I-III non-smal...
متن کاملBackground-Based Delineation of Internal Tumor Volumes on Static Positron Emission Tomography in a Phantom Study
Objective(s): Considering the fact that the standardized uptake value (SUV) of a normal lung tissue is expressed as x±SD, x+3×SD could be considered as the threshold value to outline the internal tumor volume (ITV) of a lung neoplasm. Methods: Three hollow models were filled with 55.0 kBq/mL fluorine18- fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) to represent tumors. The models were fixed to a barrel filled w...
