The rate of change of left ventricular volume in man. II. Diastolic events in health and disease.

چکیده
Because there is little quantitative information about the hemodynamics of left ventricular diastolic events in man, single-plane cineangiographic left ventricular volume curves were quantitatively analyzed at 16.6 msec intervals to evaluate the rate and amount of left ventricular filling during the early passive stage of filling and during the time of atrial contraction. The peak rate of passive diastolic filling of the left ventricle (D dV/dt), the peak rate of filling during atrial contraction (dV/dt E 'a'), and the increment in diastolic left ventricular volume due to atrial contraction (AV c 'a') were analyzed for a group of 110 adult patients with a variety of cardiac lesions. Normal D dV/dt, 503 171 cc/sec, was significantly depressed in patients with mitral stenosis (393 + 109 cc/sec) and coronary artery disease (394 150 cc/sec). When corrected for end-diastolic volume (EDV), the resultant D dV/dt/EDV was significantly depressed in all disease states studied. D dV/dt corrected similarly for total left ventricular stroke volume (SV)

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

Background: Cardiovascular problems including arterial hypertension, coronary artery diseases, congestive heart failure are prevalent among chronic hemodialyzed patients. Ultrafiltration of hemodialyzed patient's serum, which culminating in intravascular volume reduction, is frequently used during hemodialysis. One of the restrictions of the echocardiographic evaluation of the diastolic heart f...

متن کاملDiastolic left ventricular functional indices: Comparison between gated myocardial perfusion SPECT and echocardiography
Introduction: Many patients have only diastolic dysfunction without any abnormality in systolic function. We compared cardiac diastolic parameters obtained by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (Gated SPECT) with those evaluated by echocardiography. Methods: Forty-nine patients (aged 37-85 years, 19 males and 30 women) underwent Gated SPECT and echocardiogr...
متن کاملDoppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz
Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...
