Crystal plasticity analysis of constitutive behavior of 5754 aluminum sheet deformed along bi-linear strain paths
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sheet specimens of aluminum alloy 5754 were deformed along a series of bi-linear, equal-biaxial and uniaxial, strain paths while simultaneously measuring stress–strain behavior. The Visco-Plastic Self-Consistent crystal plasticity model, which incorporates texture evolution, was used to simulate the flow stress and hardening behavior based in part on the measured crystallographic texture before deformation. The predicted crystallographic texture qualitatively captures the texture measured in the experiments. Including latent hardening of multiple slip planes allowed the model to explain the decrease in flow stress when changing from equal-biaxial to uniaxial deformation. However, the model captures neither the details of the drop in flow stress nor the magnitude of the plastic hardening after the change in deformation mode. This is likely due to room temperature recovery between the two segments of testing. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Constitutive Relations for AA 5754 Based on Crystal Plasticity
Constitutive equations for the multiaxial stress-strain behavior of aluminum alloy 5754 sheets were developed, based on crystal plasticity. A Taylor-based polycrystal plasticity model, a tangent formulation of the self-consistent viscoplastic model (VPSC), and an N-site viscoplastic model based on the fast Fourier transform (VPFFT) were used to fit a single slip system hardening law to the avai...

Lightweighting materials (e.g., advanced high strength steels, aluminum alloys etc.) are increasingly being used by automotive companies as sheet metal components. However, accurate material models are needed for wider adoption. These constitutive material data are often developed by applying biaxial strain paths with cross-shaped (cruciform) specimens. Optimizing the design of specimens is a m...

A constitutive multi-laminate based elastic-plastic model developed to be capable of accounting induced anisotropic behavior of granular material such as sand. The fabric feature or grain orientation characteristic effects through medium are considered in a rational way under any complex stress path, including cyclic loading. The salient feature of the developed model is a non-associative on pl...

The stored deformation energy in the dislocation structures in a polycrystalline metal can provide a sufficient driving force to move grain boundaries during annealing. In this paper, a thermodynamically-consistent three-dimensional, finite-strain and dislocation density-based crystal viscoplasticity constitutive theory has been developed to describe the distribution of stored energy and dislo...
متن کاملFinite Element Modeling of Strain Rate and Grain Size Dependency in Nanocrystalline Materials
Nanocrystalline materials show a higher strain-rate sensitivity in contrast to the conventional coarse-grained materials and a different grain size dependency. To explain these phenomenon, a finite element model is constructed that considers both grain interior and grain boundary deformation of nanocrystalline materials. The model consist of several crystalline cores with different orientations...
