Micro-Cracks Detection of Eggshells Based on a Magnetostrictive Transducer

چکیده
With respect to the problem that it is difficult to pick out eggs with small cracks, a novel vibrating type of eggshell cracks detection system using a magnetostrictive transducer was developed firstly. Then the acoustic signals was recorded while the transducer vibrating with the swept frequency from 1 to 14000 Hz. Thirdly, the wavelet and Burg power spectrum were used for data pretreatment and feature extraction respectively. By comparing the spectrums of intact eggs and hairline cracked eggs, the characteristic frequency of 4500~8000 Hz was found. Moreover, five feature parameters were defined for further analysis. In addition, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) based classifier was applied to build the model for identifying the cracked eggs from intact eggs. The experimental results show that the useful information of the acoustic signals was enhanced significantly and the identification accuracy reaches to 100 % and 98 % for training set and testing set respectively. This paper proposes a novel method for discriminating eggshell cracks using a magnetostrictive transducer in conjunction with the signal power spectrum analysis and LIBSVM methods which results show its feasibility. Selection of Shear Horizontal Wave Transducers for Robotic Nondestructive Inspection in Harsh Environments
Harsh environments and confined spaces require that nondestructive inspections be conducted with robotic systems. Ultrasonic guided waves are well suited for robotic systems because they can provide efficient volumetric coverage when inspecting for various types of damage, including cracks and corrosion. Shear horizontal guided waves are especially well suited for robotic inspection because the...
متن کاملCharacterization of Micro-Crack Propagation through Analysis of Edge Effect in Acoustic Micro Imaging of Microelectronic Packages
The miniaturization and three dimensional die stacking in advanced microelectronic packages poses a big challenge to their non-destructive evaluation by acoustic micro imaging. In particular, their complicated structures and multiple interfaces make the interpretation of acoustic data even more difficult. A common phenomenon observed in acoustic micro imaging of microelectronic packages is the ...

A self-sensing magnetostrictive actuator design based on a linear systems model of magnetostrictive transduction for Terfenol-D is developed and analyzed. Selfsensing, or the ability of a transducer to sense its own motion as it is being driven, has been demonstrated for electromechanical transducers such as moving voice coil loudspeakers and, most recently, piezoelectric distributed moment act...
متن کاملStudy on Relationship between Amplitudes of Reflection Signals and Positions of Magnetostrictive Transducer
As one of key techniques for guided waves NDT based on magnetostrictive effect, the transducer is a “bridge” which plays an important role in practical inspection. In the experiments, we find that the guided wave echo-signals detected in pipes are affected by the position of the magnetostrictive transducer. First, guided waves’ generation mechanism and its propagating characteristics in pipes a...
