Development of a Laboratory Wear Test Methodology for the Evaluation of Total Elbow Prostheses
ثبت نشده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Although total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) is a clinically successful procedure, long-term complications due to bushing wear and osteolysis are a few of the reasons for limited long-term survivorship.[Goldberg, 2008] There is no published information on in vitro wear simulations of total elbow prostheses to characterize and predict in vivo performance nor are there any currently accepted test standards (ASTM/ISO) for wear specific to the elbow. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a laboratory wear test methodology and validate the results against clinical evidence from gross observations of explanted CoonradMorrey (CM) (Zimmer, Inc., Warsaw, IN) total elbow components.[Goldberg 2008, Day 2009]

متن کاملA New Procedure of Impact Wearevaluation of Mill Liner (RESEARCH NOTE)
The significant costs insert on mineral processes due to mill liner wear including the labor costs, price of material and shut down periods. Therefore, the study of this phenomenon is economically important to optimize the mill operating conditions and liner profile design to decrease the wear rate. There is no appropriate and applicable research on impact wear evaluation of mill liners. In the...

Functionally graded aluminium/zirconia metal matrix composite was fabricated using stir casting technique followed by horizontal centrifugal casting process and a hollow cylindrical functionally graded composite (150 x 150 x 16 mm) was obtained with centrifuging speed of 1200 rpm. The microstructural evaluation and hardness test was carried out on the outer and inner surface of the functionally...
متن کاملWear Testing of Total Hip Joints According to Iso and Development of a New Hip Joint Simulator According to Iso
INTRODUCTION The development of new, highly sophisticated materials for the articulating surfaces of total hip endoprostheses has led to an increasing demand for testing and verification. This includes tests and research regarding bio-compatibility, static load bearing capacity of the prostheses as well as tribological investigations. Since it has been found that wear debris play a dominant rol...
