چکیده

We report the first far-infrared linear and non-linear (saturation) magneto absorption experiments of coupled subband-Landau level excitations in a series of modulation-doped double-coupled multiple quantum-well (MQW) structures. Non-linear spectroscopy is carried out with a free electron laser. A plot of energy versus magnetic field for 4 laser lines at low intensity and high intensity is compared with linear (Fourier transform) spectroscopy at low and high temperatures. An exact numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation for this coupled system is also obtained and compared with experiments. Results show that the feature observed at high laser intensity and high temperature is due to transitions from the 1st-excited state of the coupled system to the higher excited states. Based on this, a simple 2-level model is developed, and with a layer-by-layer analysis for MQW systems, the electron lifetime of the first-excited state is obtained. c © 1997 Academic Press Limited

Nonlinear optical spectra of confined and localized excitons in mesoscopic domain and quasi-2D stacking fault interface in BiI3 crystals

Saturation spectra of the excitons confined and localized at several kinds of stacking disorders in layered crystal Bi13 are studied. The quasi-two dimensional exciton localized at the stacking fault interface does not saturate its absorption strength below the density of 105W/cm2 due to the large binding energy and the lateral center-of-mass motion along the interface. On the exciton system as...

شبیه سازی ذوب سیستمهای دو بعدی

The study of a two-dimensional (2-D) system started nearly half a century ago when Peierls and Landau showed the lack of long range translational order in a two-dimensional solid. In 1968, Mermin proved that despite the absence of long range translational order. Two-dimensional solids can still exhibit a different kind of long range bond orientation. During the last decade, fascinating theori...

Mono-Mono-Mono and Bi-Bi-Bi three-layer graphene systems’ optical conductivity

Investigating the longitudinal optical conductivity of graphene systems, which is the mostimportant property for opto-electronic devices, for three-layer graphene systems theoretically and numerically is the main purpose of this study. Each layer can be mono- or bi-layer graphene. Separation between layers has been denoted by d, selected to be about ten nanometers. The carrier densities i...

Axial Crushing Analysis of Sandwich Thin-walled Tubes using Experimental and Finite Element Simulation

Application of impact energy absorption systems in different industries is of special significance. Thin-walled tubes, due to their lightness, high energy absorption capacity, long crushing length and the high ratio of energy absorption to weight, have found ever-increasing application as one of the most effective energy absorption systems. In this research, through  carrying out experimental t...
