Applying Goffman ’ S Frame Analysis in News Discourse

This article intends to apply Erving Goffman ́s frame analysis for the observation of media discourses through its products, looking for the interpretative schemas utilized in production and reception of these discourses. If this point of view was considered, the frame analysis could be a useful instrumental. What are the social frames otherwise interpretative schemas? At the end of this study, it is presented a preliminary application of frame analysis, which aim is to investigate two national Brazilian TV news’ coverage on Christmas day, December 25, 2003. By identifying the conceptual maps, which are found between audience and producers, maybe, clues can be developed in order to understand the communicative process.
