Prp: Indications for Intra-articular Us
نویسنده
چکیده
Key Points: • The clinical acceptance of intra-articular PRP has preceded needed scientific evidence • The relative levels of platelets, WBCs and RBCs in PRP are device and technique dependent. The optimum dose of platelets and/or WBCs as well as the necessity for activation is unknown. • A high margin of safety and anti-inflammatory effects appear consistent in human clinical studies. • Indications for PRP may include joint conditions refractory to or not amenable to traditional therapy.

PRP and Articular Cartilage: A Clinical Update
The convincing background of the recent studies, investigating the different potentials of platelet-rich plasma, offers the clinician an appealing alternative for the treatment of cartilage lesions and osteoarthritis. Recent evidences in literature have shown that PRP may be helpful both as an adjuvant for surgical treatment of cartilage defects and as a therapeutic tool by intra-articular inje...
متن کاملPlatelet-rich plasma to treat ankle cartilage pathology - from translational potential to clinical evidence: a systematic review
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is a fascinating biological treatment showing promising results for the management of cartilage disorders. However, despite the step forwards in this research area and the increasing use of PRP in clinical practice, its use remains still controversial and especially its application as injective treatment for ankle cartilage pathology have been scarcely investigated.Th...
متن کاملIntra-articular Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injection versus Hyaluronic acid (HA) injection alone in Patients with Grade III and IV Knee Osteoarthritis (OA): A Retrospective Study on Functional Outcome
Introduction: Intra-articular hyaluronic acid (HA) is widely utilized in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis whereas platelet rich plasma (PRP) enhances the regeneration of articular cartilage. This study analyses the efficacy of HA and PRP in grade III and IV knee osteoarthritis. Methodology: This is a cross sectional study with retrospective review of 64 patients (101 knees) which includes 5...
متن کاملCorrective Osteotomy for Intra-Articular Distal Humerus Malunion
Background: An intra-articular distal humerus malunion can be disabling. To improve function, reduce pain and/ or prevent further secondary osteoarthritis an intra-articular corrective osteotomy can be considered. Herein we present the indications, practical guidelines for pre- operative planning and surgical technique. Subsequently, we provide long-term results in a small series. Meth...
متن کاملGait Changes Vary among Horses with Naturally Occurring Osteoarthritis Following Intra-articular Administration of Autologous Platelet-Rich Plasma
Mechanisms to reduce lameness associated with osteoarthritis (OA) are vital to equine health and performance. This study was designed to quantify response to autologous, intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in horses with OA. Kinetic gait analysis was performed on 12 horses with unilateral forelimb lameness and OA in the same limb before and after intra-articular anesthesia (IAA). Radiogr...
