Implementing a Resource-Bounded Rational Agent with an Intentional Model

چکیده
Intentional theory is a rich sub-field of Artificial Intelligence that has led to different models of resource-bounded rational agents with varying success. This paper describes the important works on modeling intention and the theory behind them, focusing on how an agent with intentions can be implemented using the existing theory. It finds that while as a whole intentional modeling has had much success, the task still remains to unify the successful approaches into a single model that can work in complex and

Intentional processing as a key for rational behaviour through Natural Interaction
This paper presents an interaction model pursuing flexible and coherent human–computer interaction. Starting from a cognitive architecture for Natural Interaction, an agent-based design is presented, focusing particularly on the role of the interaction agent. Regarding the intentional processing within this agent, the Threads Model is proposed. Finally, its implementation is described and evalu...
متن کاملResource - Bounded Practical Reasoning
An architecture for a rational agent must allow for means-end reasoning, for the weighing of competing alternatives, and for interactions between these two forms of reasoning. Such an architecture must also address the problem of resource boundedness. We sketch a solution of the rst problem that points the way to a solution of the second. In particular, we present a high-level speci cation of t...
متن کاملUsing meta - logic to reconcilereactive with rational agents 1
In this paper I outline an attempt to reconcile the traditional Artii-cial Intelligence notion of a logic-based rational agent with the contrary notion of a reactive agent that acts \instinctively" in response to conditions that arise in its environment. For this purpose, I will use the tools of meta-logic programming to deene the observation-thought-action cycle of an agent that combines the a...
متن کاملProgramming Resource-Bounded Deliberative Agents
This paper is concerned with providing a common framework for both the logical specification and execution of agents. While numerous high-level agent theories have been proposed in order to model agents, such as theories of intention, these often have little formal connection to practical agentbased systems. On the other hand, many of the agent-based programming languages used for implementing ...
متن کاملBelief and Bounded Rationality
Since Quine’s Word and Object [Qui60], there has been more-or-less general agreement on the correct treatment on the status of talk about intentional attitudes. In a strict ontological sense, “the canonical scheme for us is the austere scheme” according to which there are “no propositional attitudes but only the physical constitution and behaviour of organisms” [Qui60, p. 221]. However, intenti...
