چکیده
Aiming at researching the QoS performance of slotted CSMA/CA mechanism in beacon-enabled IEEE802.15.4, this paper analyzes the effect relationship between QoS and superframe parameters through analytic mathematical model and simulation method. Firstly, the nodes’ sleeping time of WSNs is deduced from duty cycle mathematical formulation. Therefore, the energy consumption directly related to sleeping time can be evaluated. In order to analyze and evaluate the effect relationship between QoS and superframe parameters more accurate and more comprehensively, all kinds of simulation instances with different superframe parameters, including different duty cycles as well as same duty cycle but with different values of Beacon Order (BO) and SuperFrame Order (SO) are simulated. The results show that the mathematical model analysis of QoS performance is consistent with the simulation. The studies also provide a reference to further research of adaptive transmission mechanism in beacon-enabled IEEE802.15.4.

متن کاملService Differentiated and Adaptive CSMA/CA over IEEE 802.15.4 for Cyber-Physical Systems
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) that collect, exchange, manage information, and coordinate actions are an integral part of the Smart Grid. In addition, Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning in CPS, especially in the wireless sensor/actuator networks, plays an essential role in Smart Grid applications. IEEE 802.15.4, which is one of the most widely used communication protocols in this area, still n...
متن کاملImproving the IEEE 802.15.4 Slotted CSMA/CA MAC for Time-Critical Events in Wireless Sensor Networks
In beacon-enabled mode, IEEE 802.15.4 is ruled by the slotted CSMA/CA Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol. The standard slotted CSMA/CA mechanism does not provide any means of differentiated services to improve the quality of service for timecritical events (such as alarms, time slot reservation, PAN management messages etc.). In this paper, we present and discuss practical service differentia...
متن کاملImplementation of the Adaptive CSMA-CA Algorithm Based on Traffic Load
IEEE802.15.4 is a standard designed for low rate wireless personal area network. For its MAC protocol adopts the competition method to share wireless channel, collisions between ending devices are unavoidable and lead to retransmissions, consuming more energy. As traffic load becomes heavier, collisions and retransmissions are more serious. The focus of this paper is to achieve dynamic-paramete...
متن کاملThe Challenge of a Future Slotted Standard for Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks
This chapter is about alternative MAC solutions for VANETs, based on a synchronous, slotted philosophy. After highlighting the limitation of the incumbent CSMA/CA solution, the chapter explains the rationale for a slotted standard and briefly introduces the three solutions found in literature (namely MS-Aloha, D-TDMA and STDMA). In particular, one of them, MS-Aloha, seems particularly rich in f...
