A rigorous hydrodynamic theory of the A-B transition is presented. All dissi-pative processes are considered. At low interface velocities, those occurring on hy-drodynamic length scales, not considered hitherto, are most probably the dominant ones.

In a short-range model for the electronic interaction, the energy expectation values of four different trial wave functions are calculated at filling factor 1 3 for up to ten electrons in the disk geometry. Jain's trial wave function displays the lowest energy expectation value.

abstract Recently it has been suggested by A. M. Tsvelik that quantum S=1/2 an-tiferromagnet can be described by the Majorana fermions in an irreducible way and without any constraint. In contrast to this claim we shall show that this representation is highly reducible. It is a direct sum of four irreducible fundamental representations of su(2) algebra.

We study the properties of the phase transition in three dimensional U(1)+Higgs theory or Ginzburg-Landau model of superconductivity. Special attention is paid to large values of scalar self coupling (Type II superconductors), where the nature of the transition is unclear. We present some evidence for an unusual transition in this regime.

We present results from magnetic monopoles in SU (2) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature. The lattices are 16 3 × N t , for N t = 4, 6, 8, 12, at β = 2.5115. Quantities discussed are: the spacial string tension, Polyakov loops, and the screening of timelike and spacelike magnetic currents.
