A Survey on Geocast Routing Protocols

چکیده

Geocasting is the delivery of a message to nodes within a geographical region. With geocast, new services and applications are feasible like finding friends that are nearby, geographic advertising and accident or wrong–way driver warning on a motorway. In this paper we present a survey on geocast routing protocols. The protocols mainly differ in whether they are based on flooding, directed flooding or on routing without flooding and whether they are suitable for ad hoc networks or for infrastructure networks. Based on these criteria we propose a classification of geocast protocols. Our protocol comparison includes the message and memory complexity, the robustness and the ability to deliver geocast packets in partially partitioned networks. Finally, we present simulations to compare the approaches based on flooding, directed flooding and routing without flooding.

Survey on Running Environment of VANET Comparison with Routing Protocols

Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is a promising technology, which provides the comfort applications and enjoyable drive on the road. To provide safety and accountable network Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, it is essential to design routing protocols in which support VANET environment. Mobile adhoc Network (MANET) offered effective protocols and some of MANET protocols has been used for VA...

Geocast Routing Protocols for VANETs: Survey and Geometry-Driven Scheme Proposal

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are characterized by highly speed nodes, highly dynamic topology and frequent link disconnections. This raises a number of challenges especially in the field of data dissemination. Our study focuses on Geocast routing which consists of routing a message from a unique source vehicle to all vehicles located in a well geographically defined destination area calle...

A Review of Geocasting Protocols for a Mobile Ad Hoc Network∗ †

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a network consisting of a set of mobile hosts capable of communicating with each other without the assistance of base stations. In this paper we review five existing protocols for geocasting in a MANET environment. The goal of a geocasting protocol is to deliver data packets to a group of nodes that are with a specified geographical area, i.e., the geocast reg...

Geocast Routing - Performance of LBM and GeoGRID

Especially scenarios like public safety or battle field require reliable Multicast (voice) communication. There are different ways to choose and maintain the groups of receivers. One alternative for certain use cases, especially for areas of danger, is Geocast. Using Geocast, a receiver is defined by its geographic position. Especially for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) there are several Geoca...

Routing Protocols in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks: A Survey and Future Perspectives

Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET), a subclass of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), is a promising approach for the intelligent transportation system (ITS). The design of routing protocols in VANETs is important and necessary issue for support the smart ITS. The key difference of VANET and MANET is the special mobility pattern and rapidly changeable topology. It is not effectively applied the exis...
