چکیده
Abstract. The m, n Turk’s Head Knot, THK(m, n), is an “alternating (m, n) torus knot.” We prove the Harary-Kauffman conjecture for all THK(m, n) except for the case where m ≥ 5 is odd and n ≥ 3 is relatively prime to m. We also give evidence in support of the conjecture in that case. Our proof rests on the observation that none of these knots have prime determinant except for THK(m, 2) when Pm is a Pell prime.

On the Kauffman-Harary conjecture for Alexander quandle colorings
The Kauffman-Harary conjecture is a conjecture for Fox’s colorings of alternating knots with prime determinants. We consider a conjecture for Alexander quandle colorings by referring to the Kauffman-Harary conjecture. We prove that this new conjecture is true for twist knots.
متن کاملA Proof of the Kauffman–harary Conjecture
We prove the Kauffman–Harary Conjecture, posed in 1999: given a reduced, alternating diagram D of a knot with prime determinant p, every non-trivial Fox p-coloring of D will assign different colors to different arcs.

and Dedication This paper is an exploration of simple four-regular graphs in the plane (i.e. loopless and with no more than one edge between any two nodes). Such graphs are fundamental to the theory of knots and links in three dimensional space, and their planar diagrams. We dedicate this paper to Frank Harary (1921 – 2005) whose fascination with graphs of knots inspired this work and with whom...
متن کاملString theory and the Kauffman polynomial
We give a new, precise integrality conjecture for the colored Kauffman polynomial of knots and links inspired by large N dualities and the structure of topological string theory on orientifolds. According to this conjecture, the natural knot invariant to consider in an unoriented theory involves both the colored Kauffman polynomial and the colored HOMFLY polynomial for composite representations...
متن کاملThe Colored Jones Polynomial and the A-polynomial of Knots
We study relationships between the colored Jones polynomial and the A-polynomial of a knot. The AJ conjecture (of Garoufalidis) that relates the colored Jones polynomial and the A-polynomial is established for a large class of two-bridge knots, including all twist knots. We formulate a weaker conjecture and prove that it holds for all two-bridge knots. Along the way we also calculate the Kauffm...
