چکیده

A method is described for the preservation of iodopsin, the labile photopigment of daylight vision, by freeze drying in vacuo. The lipids released by the action of light on rhodopsin and iodopsin are found to be similar and to possess a labile absorption spectrum in chloroform, with a rising peak at about 390 mmicro and a declining peak in the region of 470 mmicro. After the change is complete the absorption spectrum resembles closely that of retinene.

Effects of Pigments Extracted from the Marigold Flower on Egg Quality and Oxidative Stability of the Egg Yolk Lipids in Laying Hens

This research aimed to compare the effects of pigments extracted from dried petal meal of marigold flower and synthetic pigments on productive performance of laying hens, egg quality and antioxidant properties of the egg. A total of 64 laying hens, aged 75 weeks, were distributed in a completely randomized design in 4 treatments and 4 replications containing 4 hens per cages. Experimental group...

Existence of carotenoids in Acholeplasma axanthum.

The neutral lipids of Acholeplasma axanthum contain carotenoid pigments, as evidenced by spectral characteristics, visual color, color reactions, and labeling with [2-14C-A1mevalonic acid. Approximately 80% of the label from [2-14C]mevalonic acid appeared in esterified fatty acids of the glycolipids and polar lipids. These carboxylic acids behaved as hydroxy acids of varying chain length.

Thermal and Spectral Sensitivities of Discrete Slow Potentials in Limulus Eye

The discrete, subthreshold, slow potential fluctuations (SPF's) which can be recorded intracellularly in Limulus ommatidia are sensitive to temperature and light wavelength. SPF frequency increases with increasing temperature (Q(10) about 3.5) and light intensity. The effects are additive. SPF rise and decay time decrease with increasing temperature (Q(10) between 2 and 3). There is a peak, nea...

Simultaneous Photo-Oxidative Degradation of EDTA and Extro-Oxidative Recovery of Copper from Industrial Effluents

The objectives of this investigation are the studies on the effect of copper ion on photolytic degradation of ethylenediaminetertraaceticacid (EDTA), the effect of EDTA on electrolytic recovery of copper as well as the introduction of a novel combined photolytic and electrolytic cell system for simultaneous recovery of copper and the degradation of EDTA.In this experimental study, ...

Release of 11-cis-retinal from cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein by acidic lipids

PURPOSE To determine molecular mechanisms for the release of 11-cis-retinal from the binding pocket of cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP). METHODS Binding of CRALBP to lipid surfaces was assessed with a lipid-immunoblot assay. Lipids were presented to CRALBP as small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs) consisting of phosphatidylcholine (PC) plus other lipids. Release of 9-cis-retinal or ...
