Value-Based Service Modeling and Design: Toward a Unified View of Services

چکیده
Service-oriented architectures are the upcoming business standard for realizing enterprise information systems, thus creating a need for analysis and design methods that are truly service-oriented. Most research on this topic so far takes a software engineering perspective. For a proper alignment between business and IT, a service perspective at the business level is needed as well. In this paper, a unified view of services is introduced by means of a service ontology, service classification and service layer architecture. On the basis of these service models, a service design method is proposed and applied to a case from the literature. The design method capitalizes on existing value modeling

QoS-Based web service composition based on genetic algorithm
Quality of service (QoS) is an important issue in the design and management of web service composition. QoS in web services consists of various non-functional factors, such as execution cost, execution time, availability, successful execution rate, and security. In recent years, the number of available web services has proliferated, and then offered the same services increasingly. The same web ...
متن کاملValue Cocreation Modeling: Supporting the Analysis and Design of B2B Service Engagements through Agent Orientation and Business Intelligence
Current modeling approaches for designing services do not address the characteristics of collaborative business-to-business (B2B) service engagements. Yet, these types of service engagements, for example R&D services and other knowledge-intensive business services, are key components of industrialized economies. We identify the requirements of a modeling technique able to support the analysis a...
متن کاملChapter 1 TOWARDS A SEMANTIC FRAMEWORK FOR SERVICE DESCRIPTION ∗
The rapid development of the Internet and of distributed computing has led to a proliferation of online service providers such as digital libraries, web-based information sources, electronically requestable traditional services, and even software-to-software services such as those provided by persistence and event managers. Therefore, there is an urgent need for catalogs of services, based on s...
متن کاملCustomer Preferences for Service Process Automation and Implications for Optimal Service Design - A Case Study from the Unified Communications Market in Germany
Never before has IT been so crucial to the success of a service business like in today’s highly competitive environment. Given the huge advancements of information technologies, automation in service processes has become a key design element. At the same time, designers of services must consider the impact of automation on the customer who is typically involved into the service delivery process...
متن کاملTowards Values-inspired Design: The Case of Citizen-Centric Services
We argue for and propose a design-way for Values-inspired Design. The context in which we develop our argument is Citizen-centric services in mega-cities. The work draws on and extends prior efforts related to values, value-conscious design and valuesensitive design. Our efforts are motivated by the significant trends towards mega-cities, and an acknowledgment of the need to translate policy-le...
