چکیده

Methods Fifty-one patients (40 men) underwent 3T cardiac MRI both at 18±10 days and 7.7±1.1 months after an acute MI, including: 3 short-axis slices of T2-weighted fat-suppressed BBTSE, LV function assessment by SSFP and LGE imaging. Area of hyperintensity on T2 images was assessed by a semi-automated method using a threshold of mean signal intensity in the remote ROI ± 2 SD and by manual tracing. In further analyses, correlations of T2 extent, expressed as the percentage of total myocardium, and other MRI results were assessed by Spearman correlation.

Prediction of long-term cardiac events by 123I-MIBG imaging after acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion therapy

Objective(s): In heart failure, the heart-to-mediastinum (H/M) ratio of the delayed image and washout rate (WR) are well-known as a powerful cardiac event predictors. H/M ratio quantifies the accumulation rate of MIBG in the myocardium and WR quantifies reduction of meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) accumulation in the heart from the early planar image to the delayed pla...

Rapid initial reduction of hyperenhanced myocardium after reperfused first myocardial infarction suggests recovery of the peri-infarction zone: one-year follow-up by MRI.

BACKGROUND The time course and magnitude of infarct involution, functional recovery, and normalization of infarct-related electrocardiographic (ECG) changes after acute myocardial infarction (MI) are not completely known in humans. We sought to explore these processes early after MI and during infarct-healing using cardiac MRI. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-two patients with reperfused first-tim...

Usefulness of cardiac MRI in the prognosis and follow-up of ischemic heart disease.

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an important tool that makes it possible to evaluate patients with cardiovascular disease; in addition to infarction and alterations in myocardial perfusion, cardiac MRI is useful for evaluating other phenomena such as microvascular obstruction and ischemia. The main prognostic factors in cardiac MRI are ventricular dysfunction, necrosis in late enhan...

Ferumoxytol-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging assessing inflammation after myocardial infarction

OBJECTIVES Macrophages play a central role in the cellular inflammatory response to myocardial infarction (MI) and predict subsequent clinical outcomes. We aimed to assess temporal changes in cellular inflammation and tissue oedema in patients with acute MI using ultrasmallsuperparamagnetic particles of iron oxide (USPIO)-enhanced MRI. METHODS Thirty-one patients were recruited following acut...

Role of Fructose as a Potent Antiarrhythmic and Anti-infarct agent in Isolated Rat Heart

In the current study, effects of acute short term administration of fructose on cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarction size following ischemia/reperfusion were investigated in isolated rat heart. The hearts were subjected to 30 min zero flow global ischemia followed by 120 min reperfusion. In the control group, the hearts were perfused by normal drug free Krebs-Henseleit (K/H) solution t...
