Delegation in decision making under uncertainty. Are preferences incomplete?

چکیده
In this paper we experimentally document the existence of an unexplored violation of rationality in decision making under uncertainty. In a series of incentivized decision tasks subjects have to choose between risky and ambiguous prospects or state to be indifferent, where the last option effectively means delegating the choice to a fair chance device. We observe that half of the subjects delegate several choices and show that behavior can not be reconciled with theories assuming completeness of preferences. In a second experiment we show that delegation is robust to a prize variation and verify that the observed behavior is consistent with recent models of incomplete preferences. We also find a strong gender effect: female subjects are much more likely to delegate choices then male subjects. First draft: comments highly welcome. INCOMPLETE INTERVAL-VALUED HESITANT FUZZY PREFERENCE RELATIONS IN DECISION MAKING
In this article, we propose a method to deal with incomplete interval-valuedhesitant fuzzy preference relations. For this purpose, an additivetransitivity inspired technique for interval-valued hesitant fuzzypreference relations is formulated which assists in estimating missingpreferences. First of all, we introduce a condition for decision makersproviding incomplete information. Decision maker...
متن کاملObjective and Subjective Expected Utility with Incomplete Preferences
This paper extends the expected utility models of decision making under risk and under uncertainty to include incomplete beliefs and tastes. The main results are two axiomatizations of the multiprior expected multi-utility representations of preference relation under uncertainty, thereby resolving long standing open questions. The Knightian uncertainty model and expected multi-utility model wit...

In this paper we experimentally document the existence of incomplete preferences in decision making under uncertainty. In a series of incentivized decision tasks subjects have to choose between a risky and an ambiguous prospect. Active choices between prospects can as well be avoided by selecting a fair chance device that eventually assigns one of the two prospects to the decision maker. We obs...

Proposing a hierarchical group compromise method can be regarded as a one of major multi-attributes decision-making tool that can be introduced to rank the possible alternatives among conflict criteria. Decision makers’ (DMs’) judgments are considered as imprecise or fuzzy in complex and hesitant situations. In the group decision making, an aggregation of DMs’ judgments and fuzzy group compromi...

In the paper aspect of comparability alternatives in decision making problem by imprecise or incomplete information isexamined. In particular, new definitions of transitivity based on the measure of the intensity preference between pairsof alternatives in epistemic and ontic case is presented and its application to solve decision making problem is proposed.
