چکیده

The field-induced phase transitions in FeBr2-type crystal under hydrostatic pressure have been determined in terms of Landau's theory, with the paramagnetic phase described by a unitary or a non-unitary group. The sets of low-temperature symmetry groups implied by these two descriptions partly overlap.

Off-diagonal exchange-induced transverse and field-induced spin-flop order in the diluted metamagnet Fe0.85Mg0.15Br2

– Specific heat and Faraday rotation magnetometry were used to determine the axial magnetic phase diagram of the dilute hexagonal antiferromagnet Fe0.85Mg0.15Br2. In contrast to metamagnetic pure FeBr2, the first-order line of transverse phase transitions, H1(T ), is disconnected with the antiferro-to-paramagnetic phase line Hc(T ) and extends down to Ht = 0 at Tt ≈ 8.7K. This is attributed to ...

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE PHASE TRANSITIONS IN CLUSTERS

We have studied the phase transitions in atomic clusters by molecular dynamics simulation, assuming Lennard-Jones interatomic pair potential. Calculations are performed by DAP parallel computer. The results are analyzed by simulating their orientational distribution plots (dot-plot), and neutron diffraction patterns. It is shown that all the main features of the bulk phase transitions are e...

Magnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice

Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization,  internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

Multiple field-induced phase transitions in the geometrically frustrated dipolar magnet: Gd(2) Ti(2)O(7).

Field-driven phase transitions generally arise from competition between Zeeman energy and exchange or crystal-field anisotropy. Here we present the phase diagram of a frustrated pyrochlore magnet Gd(2)Ti(2)O(7), where crystal-field splitting is small compared to the dipolar energy. We find good agreement between zero-temperature critical fields and those obtained from a mean-field model. Here, ...

Electric field driven self-assembly of ionic microgels

We study, using fluorescent confocal laser scanning microscopy, the directed self-assembly of cross-linked ionic microgels under the influence of an applied alternating electric field at different effective packing fractions feff in real space. We present a detailed description of the contribution of the electric field to the soft interparticle potential, and its influence on the phase diagram ...
