Admission Control and Channel Mapping Strategies for GEO Satellite Multicast/Broadcast Systems

چکیده
One central problem in the network planning and optimisation of W-CDMA GEO Satellite networks is the efficient use of the limited satellite resources such as power, capacity and bandwidth, task that is under the responsibility of Radio Resource Management. Services offered by a W-CDMA satellite network can be classified as conversational, streaming, interactive and background. In this paper we present an Admission Control (AC) strategy for unidirectional (downlink) satellite systems delivering multicast and broadcast services to mobile users. The results from the simulation study that demonstrate its performance are presented and conclusions derived. Key-Words: Admission Control, RRM, GEO satellites, multiplexing, W-CDMA.

Performance Analysis of Satellite-HSDPA Transmissions in Emergency Networks
In this work we are interested to investigate how the Geostationary (GEO) satellite can be used to employ efficiently High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology supporting Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) in a scenario in which the terrestrial network is not available. An exhaustive simulation campaign has been carried out with the aim to determinate the Satellite-HSDPA (...

This paper presents an overview of a satellite based broadcast layer to enhance the 3G and beyond 3G systems in the delivery of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Services (MBMS), as identified within the European IST integrated project MAESTRO. The foreseen content delivery architecture, also referred to as Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcast (S-DMB) architecture, shall become an enabler for th...
متن کاملS-UMTS access network for broadcast and multicast service delivery: the SATIN approach
This paper proposes a complete satellite access network solution for multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) delivery based on the T-UMTS standards. Firstly, the benefits of MBMS delivery via satellite (SAT-MBMS) for both S/T-UMTS network operators are shown via market and business analysis. A new integrated S/T-UMTS architecture for MBMS delivery is then proposed featuring an intermediat...
