چکیده

Bruno Pontecorvo was a great physicist who had enormous impact on the development of neutrino physics. He was charming, marvelous person. I worked with B. Pontecorvo in Dubna about 15 years and during these years we were connected by warm, friendly relations. I this talk I will speak about major contributions of Bruno Pontecorvo to neutrino physics and I will try to convey my impression about his personality.

A Theory of Weak Interaction Dynamics

Problems with the electroweak theory indicate the need for a consistent weak interactions theory. The analysis presented in this work is restricted to the relatively simple case of elastic scattering of a neutrino on a Dirac particle. The theory presented herein assumes that the neutrino is a massive particle. Furthermore, the dimension 2 L     of the Fermi constant F G as well as its unive...

Weak-universal critical behavior and quantum critical point of the exactly soluble spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model with the pair XY Z Heisenberg and quartic Ising interactions

Spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model with XY Z Heisenberg pair interaction and two different Ising quartic interactions is exactly solved with the help of the generalized star-square transformation, which establishes a precise mapping equivalence with the corresponding eight-vertex model on a square lattice generally satisfying Baxter’s zero-field (symmetric) condition. The investigated model exhibi...

In Einstein's general relativistic description of gravitation, geometry replaces the concept of force. This is possible because of the universal character of free fall and would break down in its absence. On the other hand, the teleparallel version of general relativity is a gauge theory for the translation group and, as such, describes the gravitational interaction by a force similar to the Lo...

O ct 2 00 4 Doing without the Equivalence Principle ∗

In Einstein's general relativity, geometry replaces the concept of force in the description of the gravitation interaction. Such an approach rests on the universality of free-fall—the weak equivalence principle—and would break down without it. On the other hand, the teleparallel version of general relativity, a gauge theory for the translation group, describes the gravitational interaction by a...

Interacting quantum dot coupled to a kondo spin: a universal Hamiltonian study.

We study a Kondo spin coupled to a mesoscopic interacting quantum dot that is described by the "universal Hamiltonian." The problem is solved numerically by diagonalizing the system Hamiltonian in a good-spin basis and analytically in the weak and strong Kondo coupling limits. The ferromagnetic exchange interaction within the dot leads to a stepwise increase of the ground-state spin (Stoner sta...

Universal fractal structures in the weak interaction of solitary waves in generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations.

Weak interactions of solitary waves in the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations are studied. It is first shown that these interactions exhibit similar fractal dependence on initial conditions for different nonlinearities. Then by using the Karpman-Solov'ev method, a universal system of dynamical equations is derived for the velocities, amplitudes, positions, and phases of interacting sol...
