چکیده

A novel load balancing routing scheme is proposed for Polar-orbit Low Earth Orbit satellite networks. This scheme employs mobile agents to gather related routing information by migrating autonomously. And, stationary agents estimate Inter-satellite Link (ISL) cost, routing path cost and update routing items on satellites. In the proposed scheme, ISL queueing delay is estimated using M/M/1 queueing model. Moreover, ISL cost is calculated as the sum of propagation and queueing delays. Furthermore, ISL Cost Modification Factor (ICMF) is designed considering the characteristic of Polar-orbit satellite constellation as well as the traffic distribution on the earth. Finally, path cost is evaluated based on ICMF and ISL cost. Simulation results on an Iridium-like system show that the novel scheme can achieve better load balancing, throughput and end-to-end delay than the existing method. Besides, the impact of ICMF on the observed performance is thoroughly investigated.

A Load-Balanced On-Demand Routing for LEO Satellite Networks

Due to population distribution and economic flourish diversity, the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network carries unbalanced traffic load, which leads that parts of satellite links are congested while others are underutilized. Furthermore, the congested inter-satellite links result in high queuing delay and packet dropping ratio. To ensure an intelligent scheduling of traffic over entire sate...

Agent-based QoS Routing for Polar-Orbit LEO Satellite IP Networks

Current QoS (quality of service) routing schemes for Polar-orbit low earth orbit (LEO) satellites IP networks has high computation complexity to achieve end-to-end delay guarantee. As a remedy, agentbased QoS routing (AQR) is proposed. AQR is a source-based routing protocol. Once connection requests arrive, QoS mobile agents are dispatched from ingress satellite to explore candidate paths, and ...

Traffic Load Balancing in Low Earth Orbit Satellite Networks

One of the unique traffic features of low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks is time-variant and nonuniform load distribution. This feature results in a locally biased congestion problem for the LEO satellite systems. In this paper, we propose a traJjcic load balancing scheme to resolve the congestion problem in such traffic scenarios. The proposing scheme makes use of near-neighbor residual ...

Link Reassignment based Snapshot Partition for Polar-orbit LEO Satellite Networks

Abstract—Snapshot is a fundamental notion proposed for routing in mobile low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks which is characterized with predictable topology dynamics. Its distribution has a great impact on the routing performance and on-board storage. Originally, the snapshot distribution is invariable by using the static snapshot partition method based on the mechanical steering antenna....

A Lightweight, Link-layer, Source-based Routing Protocol for LEO Satellite Networks

This paper addresses the networking issues of an ongoing project that evaluates the feasibility of a system consisting of a large constellation of low-earth-orbit (LEO) Laser Communication Satellites (LCS). Due to the strict payload constraints imposed by the LCS technology, we propose a lightweight, link-layer, source-based routing protocol that will extend the LEO infrastructure to the fast g...
