چکیده

To obtain high quality of results in gamma spectrometry, it is necessary to calibrate energy and efficiency of gamma detector as accurate as possible. To achieve this aim, utilizing the convenient gamma source can be very useful. Therefore, purpose of present study was to evaluate the determined efficiency by single point gamma sources and multi-nuclides gamma source in a high purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The multi-nuclides source comprised 241 Am, 109 Cd, 57 Co, 137 Cs and 60 Co nuclides and single point sources of 241 Am, 133 Ba, 137 Cs and 60 Co were utilized under identical geometry to calibrate efficiency of HPGe detector. The source-detector distance was 15.8 cm. The accuracy of the method was evaluated by analyzing IAEASoil 7 as certified reference materials in k0-neutron activation analysis (k0-NAA) method. Our findings were demonstrated the result of multi-nuclides source was more reliable.

An alpha-gamma coincidence method, using multi-parameter analyzer (MPA) system in list mode was used for measuring parameters of transuranium sources. The benefit of using the list method is preventing duplication of experiments a lot and thus saving the cost and time taken for this type of testing that due to very small sample rate, spend a lot of time. The multi-parameter analyzer stores the ...

New Algorithms for the Analysis of Waste Characterization

Nondestructive assay of gamma-ray emitting nuclear waste requires modeling because it is not practical to prepare a standard that matches the physical and nuclear properties of every waste item. The use of a high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector simplifies the spectral analysis process. Many models use simplified efficiency determinations and attenuation corrections. These models often work wel...
