This document summarises what is currently known about the nature and scale of occupational skin disease amongst hairdressers and barbers and gives a brief overview of the characteristics of the industry; it reviews the available evidence for the causes of skin disase in this occupational sector; and finally, lays out some of the interventions that have been tried for this sector in two other EU countries, and their success, to the extent that the interventions have been evaluated.
