چکیده

Picard groups of tensor categories play an important role in rational conformal field theory. The Picard group of the representation category C of a rational vertex algebra can be used to construct examples of (symmetric special) Frobenius algebras in C. Such an algebra A encodes all data needed to ensure the existence of correlators of a local conformal field theory. The Picard group of the category of A-bimodules has a physical interpretation, too: it describes internal symmetries of the conformal field theory, and allows one to identify generalized Kramers-Wannier dualities of the theory. When applying these general results to concrete models based on affine Lie algebras, a detailed knowledge of certain representations of the modular group is needed. We discuss a conjecture that relates these representations to those furnished by twining characters of affine Lie algebras. math.QA/0602077

Extended SL ( 2 , R ) / U ( 1 ) characters , or modular properties of a simple non - rational conformal field theory

We define extended SL(2,R)/U(1) characters which include a sum over winding sectors. By embedding these characters into similarly extended characters of N = 2 algebras, we show that they have nice modular transformation properties. We calculate the modular matrices of this simple but non-trivial non-rational conformal field theory explicitly . As a result, we show that discrete SL(2,R) represen...

DEVELOPMENT IN STRING THEORY

The string theory is a fast moving subject, both physics wise and in the respect of mathematics. In order to keep up with the discipline it is important to move with new ideas which are being stressed. Here I wish to give extracts from new papers of ideas which I have recently found interesting. There are six papers which are involved: I ."Strings formulated directly in 4 dimensions " A. N...

Dilogarithm Identities and Characters of Exceptional Rational Conformal Field Theories

Based on our recently published article Fermionic Expressions for the Characters of cp,1 Logarithmic Conformal Field Theories in the journal Nuclear Physics B, fermionic sum representations for the characters of the W(2, 2p−1, 2p−1, 2p−1) series of triplet algebras are obtained, providing further evidence that these logarithmic theories constitute well-defined rational conformal field theories....

Spinon bases, Yangian symmetry and fermionic representations of Virasoro characters in conformal field theory

We study the description of the SU(2), level k = 1, Wess-Zumino-Witten conformal field theory in terms of the modes of the spin-1/2 affine primary field ff'~. These are shown to satisfy generalized 'canonical commutation relations', which we use to construct a basis of Hilbert space in terms of representations of the Yangian Y(sl2). Using this description, we explicitly derive so-called 'fermio...

What the characters of irreducible subrepresentations of Jordan cells can tell us about LCFT

In this article, we review some aspects of logarithmic conformal field theories which can be inferred from the characters of irreducible submodules of indecomposable modules. We will mainly consider the W(2, 2p− 1, 2p− 1, 2p− 1) series of triplet algebras and a bit logarithmic extensions of the minimal Virasoro models. Since in all known examples of logarithmic conformal field theories the vacu...
