چکیده

DS-CDMA with minimum mean square error frequency-domain equalization (MMSE-FDE) can provide much better performance than that with rake combining in a frequency-selective fading channel and is comparable to that of MC-CDMA with MMSEFDE. Chip interleaving is a form of channel interleaving that improves the DS-CDMA performance by converting the channel into a highly time-selective channel; the time-selectivity can be benefited with chip interleaving. When FDE is used, the frequencyselectivity of the channel is thoroughly exploited. In this paper, we apply chip interleaving to DS-CDMA with MMSE-FDE and compare its performance with chip interleaved MC-CDMA. It is found that chip interleaving improves the performance for both DSCDMA and MC-CDMA; however the performance of DS-CDMA is better than that of MC-CDMA even with chip interleaving.

Frequency-domain Differential Detection and Equalization for 2-dimensional spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA

Abstract The multiple-access interference (MAI) limits the performance of the DS-CDMA uplink transmission. 2D OVSF spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA is an MAI-free system, and hence single-user coherent frequency-domain equalization (FDE) can be used instead of complicated multiuser detection (MUD). However, coherent FDE needs channel estimation. Pilot-assisted channel estimation is not reliable ...

Uplink BER Performance Comparison of Single-carrier Multi-access and Multi-carrier Multi-access

Abstract The downlink bit error rate (BER) performances of DSand MC-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel can be significantly improved by the use of frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. However, the uplink BER performance degrades due to strong multi-user interference (MUI) since different users’ signals go through different channels a...

Chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-dimensional OVSF spreading code

Multiuser interference (MUI) limits the transmission performance of the DS-CDMA uplink. In this paper, we propose a 2-dimensional (2-D) OVSF spreading and chip-interleaving to transform the multi-user channel into orthogonal single-user channels. Due to MUI cancellation, the chip-interleaved DS-CDMA with 2-D OVSF spreading has ability to increase the link capacity as well as to provide multi-ra...

Throughput Comparison of Turbo-Coded HARQ in OFDM, MC-CDMA and DS-CDMA with Frequency-Domain Equalization

OFDM, MC-CDMA and DS-CDMA are being researched vigorously as the prospective signaling technique for the next generation mobile communications systems, which will be characterized by the broadband packet technology. With packet transmissions, hybrid ARQ (HARQ) will be inevitable for error control. HARQ with rate compatible punctured turbo (RCPT) codes is one of the promising techniques. Data ra...
