چکیده

Introduction Cardiac arrhythmias, whether ventricular or supraventricular, initially presented a challenge for coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) because they could result in motion artifact during image acquisition, increased acquisition times, and increased radiation dose. Cardiac motion and misregistration artifacts in a scan performed during premature ventricular contractions can significantly compromise image quality and prevent diagnostic evaluation of the coronary arteries. Even the so-called “regularly irregular” rhythms, which are predictable, can trigger arrhythmia rejection algorithms during electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated imaging, delaying image acquisition to the next cardiac cycle and hence increasing the total radiation dose. We present an interesting CCTA case in a patient with ventricular trigeminy and introduce a novel postprocessing method used to derive diagnostic-quality images for coronary artery evaluation.

Low kilovolt “prospective ECG-triggering” vs. “retrospective ECG-gating” coronary CTA: comparison of image quality and radiation dose

Background: To compare image quality and radiation doses of low kilovolt (kV) “prospective ECG-triggering” (PT) and standard “retrospective ECG-gating” (RG) coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography. Materials and Methods: A total of 101 consecutive patients (76 males, 25 females; mean age: 55.44 ± 8.28 years) with low-to-intermediate risk status for coronary artery disease and with a body ...

Prospective-triggered high-pitch spiral versus sequential dual-source CT coronary angiography: comparison of image quality and radiation dose

Background: Prospectively electrocardiography (ECG)-triggered high-pitch spiral coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a unique scan mode for dual-source CT (DSCT). Our reports aim to compare image quality and radiation dose of CCTA using high-pitch spiral or sequential acquisition mode in patients with low and stable heart rates. Materials and Methods: Patients with low and stable ...

Correction: Feasibility of Low-Dose Contrast Medium High Pitch CT Angiography for the Combined Evaluation of Coronary, Head and Neck arteries

PURPOSE To evaluate the image quality and radiation dose of combined heart, head, and neck CT angiography (CTA) using prospectively electrocardiography (ECG)-triggered high-pitch spiral scan protocol, compared with single coronary CTA. MATERIALS AND METHODS 151 consecutive patients were prospectively included and randomly divided into three groups. Group 1 (n = 47) underwent combined heart, n...

Accuracy of prospectively ECG-triggered very low-dose coronary dual-source CT angiography using iterative reconstruction for the detection of coronary artery stenosis: comparison with invasive catheterization.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the image quality and diagnostic accuracy of very low-dose computed tomography (CT) angiography (CTA) for the evaluation of coronary artery stenosis. BACKGROUND Iterative reconstruction (IR) has shown to substantially reduce image noise and hence permit the use of very low-dose data acquisition protocols in coronary CTA. METHODS Fifty symptomatic patients with an inter...

Objective: Assessment of myocardial function can be performed at higher noise levels than necessary for coronary arterial evaluation. We evaluated image quality and radiation exposure of a dose-conserving functiononly acquisition vs retrospectively electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated coronary CTA with automatic tube current modulation. Methods: Of 26 patients who underwent clinically indicated corona...
