Primordial torsion fields as an explanation of the anisotropy in cosmological electromagnetic propagation

چکیده
In this note we provide a simple explanation of the recent finding of anisotropy in electromagnetic (EM) propagation claimed by Nodland and Ralston. We consider, as a possible origin of such effect, the effective coupling between EM fields and some tiny background torsion field. The coupling is obtained after integrating out charged fermions, it is gauge invariant and does not require the introduction of any new physics.

Cosmic Rotation Axis, Birefrigence and Axions to detect Primordial torsion fields
Nodland Ralston (PRL,1997) investigated the cosmological anisotropy of electromagnetic fields. In this paper we show that it is possible obtain a torsion correction to Nodland-Ralston action starting from the massive Proca electrodynamics in Minkowski spacetime and performing the minimal coupling with torsion. We end up with an action which contains the Nodland Ralston action without breaking the...
متن کاملRadiation transport equations in non - Riemannian space - times
The transport equations for polarized radiation transfer in non-Riemannian, Weyl-Cartan type space-times are derived, with the effects of both torsion and non-metricity included. To obtain the basic propagation equations we use the tangent bundle approach. The equations describing the time evolution of the Stokes parameters, of the photon distribution function and of the total polarization degr...
متن کاملIndication for primordial anisotropies in the neutrino background from the Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe and the Sloan digital sky survey.
We demonstrate that combining cosmic microwave background anisotropy measurements from the 1st year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe observations with clustering data from the Sloan galaxy redshift survey yields an indication for primordial anisotropies in the cosmological neutrino background.
متن کاملCosmological Alfvén waves in the recent CMB data , and the observational bound on the primordial vector perturbation
In the presence of the primordial magnetic field, initial vector (vorticity) perturbations produce cosmological Alfvén waves and leave imprints on cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropy. We have investigated imprints of cosmological Alfvén waves in CMB anisotropy. For data constraints, we have used the power spectrum of the recent CMB observations, and correla...
متن کاملMinimal Microwave Anisotropy from Perturbations Induced at Late Times
Aside from primordial gravitational instability of the cosmological fluid, various mechanisms have been proposed to generate large-scale structure at relatively late times, including, e.g., “late-time” cosmological phase transitions. In these scenarios, it is envisioned that the universe is nearly homogeneous at the time of last scattering and that perturbations grow rapidly sometime after the ...
