Quantum state tomography with a single measurement setup

چکیده
The field of quantum information relies on the crucial issue of characterizing quantum states frommeasurements. This is performed through a process called quantum state tomography (QST). However, QST requires a large number of measurements, each derived from a different physical observable corresponding to a different experimental setup. Changing the setup results in unwanted changes to the data, prolongs the measurement, and impairs assumptions made about noise. Here, we propose to overcome these drawbacks by performing QST with a single observable. A single observable can often be realized by a single setup, thereby considerably reducing the experimental effort. However, the information contained in a single observable is insufficient for full QST. To overcome the lack of sufficient measurements in a single observable, we increase the system dimension by adding an ancilla that couples to the information in the system and exploit the fact that the sought state is often close to a pure state. We demonstrate our approach on multiphoton states by recovering structured quantum states from a single observable in a single experimental setup. © 2017 Optical Society of America

Current state of bone scintigraphy protocols and practice in Japan
Objective(s): Nuclear medicine technologists in Japan often perform additional single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with or without computed tomography (CT) after whole-body imaging for bone scintigraphy. In this study, we wanted to identify the bone scanning protocols used in Japan, together with the current clinical practices. Methods:...
متن کاملPreparation of Entangled States and Quantum Teleportation with Atomic Qubits
Quantum information processing has been the subject of intense study for the past ten years. Entanglement is an essential ingredient in order to achieve the exponential speed-up promised by certain quantum algorithms. One system proposed for the implementation of quantum information processing is a string of ions in a linear Paul trap. In this thesis the ability to deterministically prepare and...

In this paper, by considering a system consisting of a single two-level trapped ion interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field inside a lossless cavity, the temporal evolution of the ionic and the cavity-field quantum statistical properties including photon-counting statistics, quantum fluctuations of the field quadratures and quantum fluctuations of the ionic dipole variables are...
متن کاملMeasuring bipartite quantum correlations of an unknown state.
We report the experimental measurement of bipartite quantum correlations of an unknown two-qubit state. Using a liquid state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance setup and employing geometric discord, we evaluate the quantum correlations of a state without resorting to prior knowledge of its density matrix. The method is applicable to any 2 ⊗ d system and provides, in terms of number of measurements requ...
متن کاملLow-rank matrix recovery via rank one tight frame measurements
The task of reconstructing a low rank matrix from incomplete linear measurements arises in areas such as machine learning, quantum state tomography and in the phase retrieval problem. In this note, we study the particular setup that the measurements are taken with respect to rank one matrices constructed from the elements of a random tight frame. We consider a convex optimization approach and s...
