چکیده

Mice hyperimmunized with polyinosinic . polycytidylic acid complexed with methylated bovine serum albumin were protected against challenge with Friend leukemia virus. The virus was inoculated at the time when anti bodies reacting to the polynucleotide structure had reached an appreciable level. A sparing effect of approximately 1.5 logs in infectivity was afforded the immunized mice. Our results indicate that the polynucleotide complexes may provide a promising means of immunizing against the oncornaviruses.

Effect of anti-cord factor antibody on experimental tuberculosis in mice.

Either active immunization with trehalose-6, 6'-dimycolate (cord factor)-methylated bovine serum albumin complex or passive transfer of rabbit anti-cord factor serum induced in mice an enhanced resistance against infection with virulent human Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This suggests that the anti-cord factor antibody exerts an infection-protecting effect by neutralizing the toxic action of cor...

H - 2 - Linked Dominant Genetic Control of Immune Suppression by the Random

In the companion paper, the random copolymer of L-glutamic acids°-L-tyrosine" (GTf was shown to be unable to stimulate the formation of specific antibodies in 19 inbred and congenic resistant strains of mice (1). In several of these strains, however, GT complexed to methylated bovine serum albumin (GT-MBSA) was able to stimulate specific plaque-forming cell (PFC) responses . Furthermore, immuni...

RESTRICTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSES TO THE IgG CLASS AND DEPENDENCY OF IgM RESPONSES ON SECONDARY IMMUNIZATION FOR THE COPOLYMERS OF L-GLUTAMIC ACID, L-TYROSINE, AND L-ALANINE* BY CARL WALTENBAUGH,$ JACQUES THI~ZE,§ ANn

The specific antibody responses of mice to thymus-dependent polypeptide antigens are controlled by autosomal dominant immune response (Ir) genes which map in the I region of the H-2 complex (1). Primary responses in vivo or in vitro to the linear copolymers GAT ~ (L-glutamic acide°-L-alanine3°-L-tyrosine ~°) and GA (L-glutamic acidJ°-L-alanine 5°) are restricted to the IgG class in responder mi...

Regulatory T-Cells Mediate IFN-α-Induced Resistance against Antigen-Induced Arthritis

Objective CD4+FoxP3+CD25+ regulatory T-cells (Tregs) are important for preventing tissue destruction. Here, we investigate the role of Tregs for protection against experimental arthritis by IFN-α. Methods Arthritis was triggered by intra-articular injection of methylated bovine serum albumin (mBSA) in wild-type mice, Foxp3DTReGFP+/- mice [allowing selective depletion of Tregs by diphtheria to...
